they was available and are better all round from what ive heard.... read tufftys thread in the stickies mate.

    so....

can i use instant gasket?? also ive got some hose, im thinking i will run a cold air feed to my cone filter and maybe one to the turbo mani area, sound ok or will the rapid hot cold effect make the mani more likely to crack? was also thinking of removing the rubber bonnet seal above the mani to let heat out or will rain feck my electrics?

finally the guy i bought the packs of showed me his stripped out gt3076r leon, he had totally removed his n249 sensor and got no engine light and he never used a resistor??? can i do this?

cheers again tuffty, you are the man!-)

well its all on, i reused the rocker gasket, cleaned it up and added some instant gasket... im impatient i know, she's running lovely again now.

im ordering a welly cooler and the pipes in a minute how long will it take me to fit it, a couple of hours?? i have some metal to make the bracketry?

as for amd, im going to call them up tomorrow and have a word. im going to ask them if they can cure the boost spike when i return or i want my car returned to standard...

what are other cars with similar mods boosting like, im guessing if bill or r-tech mapped it there wouldnt be any spike right? assuming the cars not at fault, would it not have been spiking before the map if it were my n75???

No need for spike in boost. Some tuners do it to make it "feel "faster all it does is heat stuff up quickly

Man up and make the mission dude....I actually did just that....made the trip and turned out my SAI/Maf and02 sensor were shagged. By the time it was all fitted I didn't have time for the remap- but at least I knew the car had been properly checked and ready for the next time I took it there.

Been to both AMD and B5s and I won't be going back to AMD in a hurry after the service I received from Bill and Paul.

LMAO.. yes I know this guy.. calls me stupid amounts of time because he cant suss his boost controller.. which I walk him thru.. and help him get it working.
You trust his word over mine??? lmao - good luck with that

    lol

The arguement was that std rods are good for big power.. the case for that is open and shut.. as proven. lol
Luck being the big factor on how long you get away with it.

Welly cooler has been tested, logged for pressure and flow and is proven working on many cars.. Got that same level of data for whatever he's running? Yet claimed as "better" based on any actual "data".... ;)

some tuners end up with the spike, but not by design... but by boost overshoot. The requests dont ask for the spikes... they cant do, map limit being 22psi at the end of the day.. Its just an overshoot.

As I wrote bill I don't trust his word over yours lol!!!

He also said he asked tuffty for a race and he didn't want too lmao!! Thinks he's a bit of street racer I think!-)

Anyway, I spoke to amd and the guy on the phone said they meant the map was safe but that spike is dangerous and to take it very easy until they get it back when they'll try to get it all sorted for me... Either way they can't have test drove it or they would have told me not to use the boost at all surely... Shouldn't have let me drive out like that, when I was attempting to do that log bill it showed a. 1.9 spike! Strangely tho on the log it didn't show a boost reading above 2450?

Hummm... I don't recall him asking me for a race... not my bag anyway :)

VCDS won't show above that figure as thats the max the MAP sensor can read... this is why boost gauges are so useful a diagnostics tool rather than a boy racer accessory... all tuned turbo cars should have one :)

They don't look like TFSI coil packs to me... TFSI sit higher than that out the rocker... offer one up against your existing one... if they are the same length then they are 20v coils not TFSI ones... won't be genuine as VAG never sold red 20v ones IIRC...

...and bin off that piece of **** split-r valve... just replace it for a new OE one...

Mine look pretty much like that in my APY lump with the OE adapters underneath tbh.

Totally agree with the Split R comment.....you not got the OEM one to put back on it?

Same as Bill highlighted further up... the part number suggests K03s and a 4bar used to be a prerequisite for Revo stg2 back in the day... you don't need a 4bar on anything if its tuned right or has the right supporting hardware.. the info on that link looks like a webmonkey copy and paste job on their website...

Ohhhh right....sorry - still waking up after the BH weekend! lol

I don't think AMD are to up to date with keeping their site maintained.....they were offering discontinued Milltek tips the other week until I spoke to Milltek and they asked them to remove it of there site.

Justarn- I take it your running the Split R in full re-circulation mode so the blanking plate is fitted?

Looks like it from the pic... its even fitted the wrong way round... split-r's fit the other way round to normal DV's... its still **** DV even with the blank on... too small a hole...

Interesting that they map it with one of those on but not a std DV lol..

I think the o.p has made a long trip round to get to his end destination. The time you saved by not driving to b5 or rtech you have wasted in stress and sheee-ite on the car . P.s did you really not use an O.E new gasket for head???

I hope you get there eventually but you need to learn some patience my friend.

FFS just tell AMD to remove their prehistoric map and give you a refund. Then drive to either Stonehouse or Hinkley and get a real map with proper advise and a car that will leave in full working order and without the need to mess about with going back to amend spikes!!!

that link i posted earlier, that bill said was ko3s... if you go on theirs site and look at the s3 210bhp stage 2 and click it here
    Tuning Parts for Audi S3 210 quattro 1.8T (1999 - 2002) from AmD Essex

thats what it says, asked me if i had an uprated one and if it was recirc... i figured its no good turning up without some form of uprated one after my conversation on the phone previously when they said some s3's need a 4 bar fpr and it may be an extra 60 or 80 qud or something?

i know lol, i used the old gasket as it was ok, only the rocker btw not the head. added some instant gasket in the corners... i hope it holds but its no major job if it doesnt, half hour? it was leaking a bit before so no extra mess either. i will spend a whole day and clean it all properly when i get a new one

to be fair it was going back anyway dude if you read the whole thread, they let me drive away with an air leak on a newly mapped car which i didnt see as a massive deal until i saw the spike, i was 30min away before i gave the throttle a light push!

could this spike be cause by the said turbo elbow??? it is a cheap one off ebay made of normal blue silicone!? they said the vag and forge ones are made of a special heat resistant material and when the average silcone was getting hot air was escaping around it? could this be the case, it wasnt doing it before, guess the extra boost and heat could cause this...?

im gonna give them a chance to fix it and redeem themselves, i told them today when i come back i dont want it spiking at all if they cant do that im not going to be happy...
also told them they should be advising a front mount with a stage 2 to map, and ive ordered one. i said will it make any difference to what you are going to do on the rr later in the week they said no i can fit it after or before makes no difference? the guy sounded as though he was getting agitated with all my questions and un-enthusiastically answered my questions...

i was looking at some local tuners before these, it was between amd and a superchips stage 1 map with no rr work (give somesort of 12 month warrenty on you car though!?), in the end i chose amd...

the guys who were there last weekend seemed much more helpful... can their map really be dangerous, im doubtful a company that size with a huge reputation can afford to do that.
its a shame their employees arnt on here although they mentioned a name and said i think he's on there... at least then they could argue their own corner a bit.

    Performance Gains.

After extensive development and testing, we arrive at the optimised settings for your make and model of vehicle, ensuring that each AmD Tuning map is as individual as the software inside your ECU, safely eliminating those ‘performance compromises’.

As an example , the VW MK5 GTi 2.0T will gain over 50bhp from the manufacturers power figures.

We firstly run through the mechanical side of the car to ensure it is running within the manufacturers parameters. This includes a performance road test, computer diagnostics and a rolling road power test that to check the car runs correctly. We then modify the engine software for performance gains and test again on the rolling road. We can then produce before and after graphs of your cars power output.

In most cases this remapped programme is installed electronically and remotely through the car’s diagnostic port. There’s no replacement chip, and we don’t touch the ECU itself giving you piece of mind.

    Improved Fuel Economy.

In today's market with soaring fuel prices, an AmD Tuning remap means improved fuel economy as well as improved performance - saving you money in the long run. More engine torque means less throttle needed to keep a constant speed therefore improving fuel economy.

    Guaranteed Results.

We guarantee your satisfaction with an AmD Tuning remap and offer a no quibble 30 day money back guarantee if not completely satisfied with the results.

This may be handy, 30 days to do logging!-)

Its not that they are bad, or have bad rep, theyre good, they know there things, BUT a company like that has to stay current to be the head of the game.
Their work on tfsi and more recent vag cars is what they deal with nowadays, theyve been focussed on those cars simce they were released like i dunno, 8 years ago.

Things with our old bags of ****e move on, and its only small companies like b5 and r-tech that stay with the older models as much as the new
