i never tested my 0-60 but my revo 210 s3 is set to high boost 8 timing 7 on optimax and the average hasnt changed much at all - i get about 26mpg overall including a fair bit of weekly 'hooligan' driving

its certainly a lot quicker than standard and worth every penny..

Had mine Revo'd, I would estmate 0 to 60 time down by about a second, maybe. The real difference is in the torque. There is a massive difference in overtaking, the power difference is unbelieveable. Was considering getting mine AMD'd, but went for the Revo after the 5 hour trial. AMD physically change the chip, Revo is done through the serial port by the bonnet pull, they don't even lift the bonnet. If you have you car re-mapped or chipped, it's like watching TV, once you've seen colour, you don't want to go back to black and white. Do it and you will never regret it.

As far as fuel consumption is concerned, if you use the performance of a chipped car, then you will pay the price at the pumps. Drive it hard and you will only get around 20 mpg. Drive it like a pussy cat and you'll get 36 mpg easily. If mpg is important get a TDI, don't chip it and do 30 mph everywhere.

Thanks for putting me right on this one, the Revo dealer advised of the chip change by AMD.

I shall be having a chat with them to put them straight.

    No worries..

  6. As changing into third before 60mph, does anyone have any figures at all? 0-100, 30-70 etc. As these would give much more "real" figure.

It'll invalidate your warranty if they can prove the chip caused the problem.. So if your turbo blows they'll almost certainly say its the chips fault.. whereas if your stereo develops a fault they can't really trace that back to the chip... although they'll probably try. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think you'll find that these figures are from the 210 bhp model tested on 3/3/99 (look in the back of autocar), when the 225 wasn't available. They just changed the bhp and torque figures for the group test.

I think you'll find this was from an audi press fleet XXXhp S3. Audi (along with mitsubushi and a few others) have been caught out a few times, supplying tinkered with turbo cars for road tests.

Most of the tests done on s3's more recently put the 0-100 in the 17-18 second region. Most 1/4 miled s3's I've seen at the pod manage around 15s at 90-92 trap speed. That extra 8-10mph to break the ton takes a couple of seconds.

Okay...if the chip is electronically adjusted rather than there being a physical swap out, what is to stop me forgetting to mention this to my insurers, then, if required, having it reset???

Nothing at all! It all depends on how hard the insurance rep would look into your car in the event of a accident/claim..at the end of the day if there was no physical swop with the ecu then you may never have know it was chipped!

I only say this because for around 10 months I always thought my car was quick then I discovered it was chipped by the last owner!! The dealers didn't even know despite it being in the garage numerous times.
