    Hi,
All of my electrical windows have stopped working. They now only work on the total closure system via the key fob.
    Can anyone please help?

    Many thanks in advance

Do the windows work seperately from the drivers door switch, so can you make the windows work on the individual switches on the doors themselves?

Urm I wonder if its the drivers door switches as it does link through, whats strange is the windows go up with the comfort system so it indicates the systems is working, havnt taken anything of the car recently or any work, have you got VAGCOM to check any controller faults?

Ah is the full closure on existing or aftermarket alarm system like clifford etc?

If you disconnect the drivers door switches which requires the panel of, does it make the individual doors work, you might think weird but trust me these things do happen.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try that when I get home, It is a standard audi alarm closure system and I would have thought that it would be a fuse issue but as the system works with the key fob, it is a strange one. Thanks for all the help anyway. Dont have vag com.

I have tried everything now and still no joy. The weird thing is when I start up the car and drive it, all windows work for about 5 minutes and then stop again and again the windows don't work.
If anyone knows someting, please let me know.
    Thank you.

Ok tell me does this happen everytime you start the car, so do the windows work for 5 minutes then stop working everytime you start the car, not just one time so far, you need VAGCOM 1st anyway to check for controller errors, if you have someone local ask them to do a read for you, whereabouts are you?
It could be a conveneince module but what strikes me is the fact it works for the timescale you say then stops, what you need to do is time the duration the windows work for & tell me if its the same every time you start the car or is it 1 min one time, 5 minutes next time, if its same each time it could be module faulty, grounding issues, faulty power circuits on the module.

IMHO unlikely as water would short it out full stop, maybe corrode the solder points on the board & I would say not work at all or would work on/off all the time not work after 5 mins then stop, but hey anyone could be wrong but from my experience with water in connections in number of fields the functionaility he mentions seems unlikely water is the cause, but of course we need more info as we're speculating here.

Does the B5 use the solenoid locking system or air vacuum locks as the air pump did the windows etc convenience all in one didnt it on that locking system as per my S3 8L.

Ah so same as the 8L then, so its the single module, we'll have to await his responce to go any further, but he needs a VAG read for sure.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, just spoke to an audi specialist over the phone and they suggested checking the comfort module as the drianage holes must be blocked passing water to the comfort system. checked the area by the battery (bulk head, firewall area) snd it was full of water which I drained. Checked the under the drivers side carpet for the module and the carpet was damp but not soaking wet. the comfort module was bone dry inside. I did unplug and re-plug the module and dried the area out but when I put evrything together again, still the same issue. All the wires etc were still intact, no loose, open or coroding wires. Also checked the drivers door control switch. We have power going to the motor but no power when connected checked at the switch end.not sure of what else it could be. got to book car in to get it vag comm'd. I have now explored all ways I know of. If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know or if anyone has vag comm in the area, please let me know. Thanks for any help in advance and for all the previous suggestions.

Check the control unit under the driver's shelf - after removing the under-column trim.

It's a double-relay, and controls the one-touch operation of windows, as well as interior lamp delay.

Urm not sure about that as even when one touch has a fault manual still works & his dont work full stop on the buttons

Did you say you had stuck a meter on the actual drivers switch pack & got no readings on any wires?

Yeah thats right. The wires that run directly to the motor has power but the ones leading from the motor to the swithes do not have any. I suppose it will only have power when a window switch is pressed anyway..? The windows now only work when the battery terminals are disconnected and reconnected but this only a temp fix for approx 30 mins..quite the conundrum. I will let you guys know asap when I connect to vag com. PS, Is it worth buying my own?(vag comm that is, and will it run on a vista laptop?
    Cheers again.

    Hi all,
    UPDATE!
Took it to an auto electrician, turns out there is a control bok in the right rear wing, in the inner arch. As it happens the previous owner had the central locking box replaced and when the new one was installed including the control unit, a sun roof drain pipe was not connected properly and the water was draining into the control box thereby ruining the connection. This has now been fixed and evrything is back to normal, except my remote central locking/alarm only activates when you physicall lock the car with the key. Apparently I need another key to recode this one as the there is a new control box in the boot? The electrician said he will be able to source another key and code everything when he gets all the parts.
Not sure if this rings true with anyone. I am not sure if it's right but it's all sorted now, well almost apart from the keys..It cost £150 all in. My normal audi mechanic couldn't sort it as he plugged it in the computer and some random things came up. like low power to window and nothing really lead to the problem. He refered me to this auto electrician to trace it as it would have taken him too long which meant more labour time for him.

Any thoughts would be more than welcome and hopefully might help someone else.

    Thank you again everyone.

Glad you have it fixed, water does funny things. Its daft that that one unit does so much isnt it?

provided youve got 2 keys you can sync remote fob yourself

    1. insert key into ignition and turn on (turn one notch do not start car) does not matter what type of key as long as it is coded to the immobiliser i.e capable of starting car

    2. insert second key (fob type) into drivers door lock and turn to lock car

    3. press unlock button on fob once (indicator should flash), wait six seconds press unlock button again, car will unlock, remove key

    4. open door and remove key from ignition, close door and press lock/unlock buttons on fob, car should now lock/unlock
