So I know I've got a leak in the system, but not sure where, are there any common places that I should check, before I call in the specialists. I've already been to kwik-fix and they said there was a leak and could not offer any further help.

In the measuring blocks of the aircon system it is also reading low pressure so will not enable to pump. Also are there any tools / sprays that could help find the leak.

I've seen the stuff halfords sell and don't fancy filling my system up with gunk, I just want to know where the leak is.

tbh its a job for a pro.

They will charge the system with a special UV dye and then find the leak. Once repaired the system needs fully evacuated and then recharged with the correct quantity of refrigerant.

You can buy the kits for 60-100 quid and you will probably only use it the once but then again you need to charge the system with say 100-200 grams after the dye is injected for it to circulate to find the leak.

Here's one on eBay - 230629463147

Someone is coming to look at the car in the next couple of days charging £30 for leak detection. I'll then fix the faults and get someone to regas.

Looks like someone has just put them kits together, I bet the cost of that kit can be done for less than £60. Seeing as I know nothing about aircon (just you don't want to breath the gas in) I'll let some in the know sort it out.

the gas itself isnt toxic. just cold (very cold). pass it near a naked flame (or other high temp) and it becomes mustard gas :D

However it is heavier than air so if it gets into your lungs it's not coming out.
