Hi guys,

Just had my aircon checked and have the following faults

1842 Potentiometer - Positioning Motor for Right Hand Temp Flap G221 Value above upper adaption limit

735 Potentiometer - Positioning Motor for Air Recirculation Flap G143 Value above upper adaptation limit

They were picked up after I fitted a B7 aircon unit and carried out Woorlords wiring fix for the rear heated windscreen to work. The new unit has been coded to the car.

Do I have to replace these motors, or can I take them out and fix them?? If I have to replace them can I only get them from Audi or does anyone else like Euro or GSF do them?

I also need a high pressure switch for the aircon as my Econ light will not go out, apparently it's the one behind the headlight? Does anyone have a part number for this and again do I have to buy from Audi??

Any advice gratefully accepted as usual, need to get this fixed as Le Mans approaching soon....

Cheers

Steve

The motors are available second hand on ebay usually, check before ordering but something like this:

AUDI A4 AIR POSITIONING FLAP MOTOR 8E2820511D 2001-2005 on eBay (end time 16-May-11 12:37:51 BST)

Any Audi part can be obtained from GSF or TPS (Trade Parts Specialists) and is usually a bit cheaper. The sensor is the G65 as show here:

I can't get you any part numbers at the moment as my etka isn't installed right now, so hopefully someone else can help you with that.

Here is an example of the motors:

Make sure you're happy the CC unit is ok, as it seems funny both motor errors appeared after you upgraded that. Have you had the system pressure checked? Often the G65 errors shows up when it's low on refrigerant.

Thanks QuattroJames,

It was my local independent who checked the car, the aircon was regassed prior to running the coding so there was no problem with the pressure and apart from the 2 fault codes everything else is working fine so I don't think it is the unit, I had some problems with the defrost flap sticking over the winter months so it's probably just old age with the motors, I had to replace the main fan motor in January as well...

Checked e-bay last night for some part numbers, could only find one of the motors, so have sent a shed load of e-mails to anyone breaking B6/B7 models to try and get them.. will try GSF/Euro tomorrow...

Cheers guys...

Before buying motors remove the glovebox to confirm, it could be that the operating arms are stuck.
I have seen a thread on anther forum showing the motors opened up and lubed..

I've taken mine off before, freed them up and lubed them. Worked fine afterwards.
I wouldn't worry about needing aircon for le mans though, if it's anything like last year. You'll be needing somewhere to get dry more.

Weather last year was pretty good at Le Mans, especially on the Friday when it was scorching all day.... Admittedly Thursday and Monday weren't great, but with a 2 day drive there from Scotland, I reckon I will need the aircon at some point....

You going this year?

For Sensor G65 (item C in QuattroJames diagram) I believe it is as follows:

"Thrust Sensor" (??)
>> 8E-7-220 200: Part No. 8E0 959 126
8E-7-220 201 >>: Part No. 8E0 959 126 B

item A: "Round Seal" Part No. 7H0 820 896

BlackQuat,

I've PM'd you, plus see my thread on who is going to Le Mans, I reckon there might be a few of us B6 owners heading down, we should arrange a meet up for several pints....

I've put a reply in there. Are you stickering up for le mans?

Last year attempt.

Yeah but the missus doesn't want me going mad, looking at a PH smiley on the back and a couple of track layouts on the rear quarter panels...

Still have some work to do such as s-line front, some paint work and brakes all round, car is a work in progress at the moment so nowhere near as nice as yours...

My cars a heap of junk and not really worthy of an audi badge lol. I keep wanting to sticker it up as a safety car. Might nag my co driver to death till he pays up lol.
