AIRBAG LIGHT HELP

    The Airbag light came on my 1.8T for no reason.

    I used Vag/Com to clear the fault, after a few days it came on again.
    I cleared it again, I think it said drivers side high resistance( I will get the correct code again)

    It came back after a few days, dissconcted battery and put back, cleared fault.
    Lasted a week and came back.
    Removed the drivers airbag unit from the stearing wheel, checked all connectors,
    dissconected and reconnected, put battery back on and cleared fault.

    This lasted a month,,, and now this morning the light came on again!!!!

    Has anyone had this problem?? I dont want to pull it all apart without having some idea
    where to look, control module, seatbelts ect.

    Its probably the contacts under the seat for the side airbags.

    Drivers Side Airbag means the Side Airbag, not the one in the wheel.

    Its quite a common fault, you can try cleaning the connectors up, or alternatively you can chop the connector off and solder the wires together.

    It'll usually happen when moving the seat, but not always.

    Hi, thanks for the reply, but I dont have airbags in my seats, its 1997 model with leather seats.
    there is no Airbag sign on any of the seats.

    Check the fault code again then and post up the exact code.

    Could be the clock spring?

    I'm having the same issue, didn't start until after I had moved drivers seat to hoover the car out.

    Cleared the code, but keeps popping up every once in a while.

    Where are the connectors located?

    Your help would be greatly appreciated :sos:

    i had this issue. check the code on the rosstech site. mine was the front crash sensor in the engine compartment. I swapped the two around and the fault swithced to the other side (Passenger to drivers) so i changed the sensor ( £86) from stealers and had no dramas at all

    post up the fault code and people should be able to help

    Hi, I have the fault code,,,

    00588
    Airbag igniter driver side (N95)
    32-10 Resistance to high, intermittent.

    any help please.

    HI Thanks, I will check all connectors again this week end, if not the it must be the clock spring.

    Does anyone no why on the Audi cd repair manuals it always says " switch on ignition and then connect eath terminal from the battery" ??
    you would think you connect earth and then switch on ignition!!!
    just wonder why it saus this??

    That seems weird to me.

    If the ignitions on, you'll get sparks when reattaching the battery, which surely is generally a bad thing?

    most likely the slip ring behind the steering wheel.
