Airbag controller recoding

So I need to replace the airbag controller to get through the next mot and i just want to check that the code that i need to read off the old unit is called 'soft coding' in VCDS (highlighted in the snip) and that this is the code that I enter when the replacement unit is installed using 'Recode 07' (also highlighted below)

Turns out it didn't need recoding as it came out of the v6tdi and it all just seems to work. Off to get an mot this week.

Ive just replaced mine and the coding was the same, as the part number was the same as the one i removed (obviously lol) i had vagcom at hand and double checked and all was ok no more light for me and no more notchy seat belts !!

Yes it's great when it just works! Does a dodgy airbag controller affect the seat belts?

No i had a front end bump that deployed the pre-tensioners hence replacing them so your seatbelts will be fine, well unless you have a bump then you will need another ecu aswel as seatbelts lol !!!!
