Hallo everyone!I have an Audi S3 8p model year 2007 stage 2+ (AEM intake, forge twintercooler, milltek non-resonated,autotech fuel pump,RS4 injectors e.t.c) and i am looking for aftermarket rods to go with the OEM pistons! If i am not mistaken,s3's rods are different from the rods found in the 200hp TFSI engines, right?!?Any suggestions will be more than useful!

    Hi Drs,

my compliments for your ride, looking very good!
There are a couple of those rods out there, make a call to Regal Autosport and Backdraft Motorsport, they should be able to help you.
Question: I have a very similar spec car to yours, but I am missing the Injectors. In this regard, could you please fill me up:
    - are they a straight replacement?
    - did you notice a performance improvement on std turbo?
    - any con's?
    Thank you,
    AJ

    Hi AJ,
I want to thank you for your response! If you could please provide me with some webpages to order,i would much appreciate it!As for your questions:
1)Yes its a straight replacement! It took me about an hour to fit them!
2)Yes!Now i can really squeeze the k04 to the limit!I think i gained 10-15hp or so!Soon i will be able to post the dynos for you!
3)The only disadvantage i noticed is black smoke at full throttle!Nothing else! There are rumours that the RS4 injectors may cause problems due to their different spray pattern!I really don't know!Time will tell!:)

Thank you once again! The horsepower isn't what really worries me............torque is!!!As you may know, there are 2 things that can bend a rod:1)Too much revs or 2)Too much torque!I might have a problem with the second one!:)
    To your questions now:
    1)The software is custom
2)You need a new map! This is the only way you can gain from the extra fuel you have!
    3)Overboost:1,9-2,0 bar Average:1,7 bar Top end:1,4 at 7,200 revs
4)With the injectors i have run almost 10.000km!No problem so far!

    Cheers mate,

WOW, that is a LOT of power! I am running 1.5 bar average, less on top!
I do not understand how you manage, because we have the problem with the ECU pulling back! Strange, because the cars are the same spec (less the injector)...

If the RS4 injectors had a different spray pattern the car would smoke all the time. The black smoke would be because you are over fueling the car by using large injectors and a small turbo. Fit a bigger turbo like a GT3071 or GT3076 with a 0.63 housing on it and you would make a lot more power and loose the smoke.

They only smoke if the fuel adaptation isn't correct on the map.. Not many people can properly control the FSI injectors..

If you have just fitted the RS4 injectors and made no adjustments then yes it will smoke like hell!

I dont see why your after doing rods on a K04?? The only rods that have been bent using a K04 turbo have been on a shi**y map, massive cylinder pressures and pre ignition caused the damage and not the power/torque..

If your going in to do rods then you would be far better of fitting a non-tapered rod with some after market pistons..

The standard pistons require a tapered rod which means your not getting the full benefit of fitting forged parts..

As far as I know the S3 pistons use a 19mm pin..

The pins are 21mm thats for sure(i have an OEM rod-piston on my desk right now :))!And yes i have decided to go for aftermarket non-tappered rods and pistons!I think thats the best solution! The k04 will be changed soon but before that i am really curious to see what the limit of k04 is!!!Will i be able to reach 400hp with stock turbo?!?
What you say about black smoke is really interesting because every TFSI i know here in Greece with RS4 injectors (with stock turbo or bigger turbo) has the same problem! Are you running RS4 injectors without black smoke? What software are you running?

It's possible to get to around 380hp with race fuel on a ko4 turbo, 360 with 99 octane..

RS4 injectors are not required with the ko4 turbo, in my experience anyways and we pushed the standard turbo absolutely as far as it would go.. Never needed more injector

All of my tuning is through Revo, the best for sure..

I've tried Revo too(stage 2) but i had some problems with fuelcuts so i decided to go for a custom software!Without the RS4 injectors,on a maha dyno i made 370 hp at 6600revs and 470,5Nm at 3500revs!After several testing with more pressure at low and average revs and logging with a vagcom,we saw that the car was running out of fuel at average revs(due to the injectors)! So i decided to fit the RS4 injectors(soon i will go for a big turbo kit so the injectors are needed anyway) and i hope with some more tricks(water-meth e.t.c.) to reach 400hp!

Ok i agree, lean is fast! But its also dangerous....;)

I don't know mate, to me your numbers seem too high, like as you were reporting the numbers you read in vag-com, that do not correspond to a dyno test reality. Also my car has your spec, and is pushed all the way, but it is running on 1.5bar, something more on spike, and that is as far as the machine goes!
By the way, we managed to enable the left-foot-braking yesterday.:rockwoot:

The numbers from the dyno are without the RS4 injectors! Also the pressure i told you is with the RS4 injectors and is what i see in a defi boost gauge and not a vagcom!I will soon have a new dyno with the injectors and the new map and some vagcom logging and post them!

I can't see the injectors making much of a difference. You're not maxing the existing ones out. I'm running on stock injectors and K04 with Revo stage2+

No idea on mine.... I know Big Andy has RS4 injectors in his S3 that and he did have black smoke until Revo had a play with the software IIRC. He is running a big turbo now and may of run the injectors with stage 2+.

    L I E S!

    A K04 is not capable of holding 1.4 bar at 7200 rpm's.

On topic of the RS4 injectors, good luck... they are disgusting. I hope you have a black car because the back end will always be filthy.

OK....leaving the K04 aside, for large turbo conversions such as GT28 or GT30s,which injectors would YOU recommend.

Turns out the old 'bash the alternatives now go and buy my APR product' sales technique doesn't go down quite as well in europe as it does in the states..

Sorry but I have no time for that type of marketing.. :blahblah1:

Sorry Jonny but I can't agree, all Arin did was point out 1.4 bar is not achievable at 7200 rpm on a K04 and that RS4 injectors smoke. Both of which are true. RS4 injectors will still smoke more than the S3's injectors even if they are tuned properly.

I have to agree with jonnyc....what Arin did was to rightly point out the K04's flow limitations, but then went on to bash the competition, and gave no useful advice of his own.

It's actually done his products a real disservice.
