nope. they will run with a relay, chances are it will bring up a bulb failure warning.

also hids even with the "anti glare" sticker will still give a poorer beam pattern in a hallogen lamp as there will be too much light in the wrong places (lamps are designed to have x amount of light in set areas.... if the light source is 100 times brighter then the light in all areas will be brighter..and some places are only allowed levels on 0.4 lo
lumans or so.. with a HID they have been show to jump up to 10 or even more.... not good.

also HIDs will burn the reflector, this will lead to a diteration in the reflector and cause poor reflection control and transmission, again leading to pap lights.

if you want HIDs get new lights with projector lenses, its the only way to be even vaguely legal...

projectors will have a Z beam pattern this means then when over taking people on the motorway etc the beam pattern is cut off bellow the other persons wing mirror to help stop the glare as you pass them....hence all OEM hids being Z beam.

halogens arent anywhere near as bright so dont need the Z beam.

oh and if you are caught with the HIDS in vosa road side check, good luck... they arent road legal. so your insurance is null and void, and if your hit at hight due to blinding another driver, again good luck.

the easy option, run proper bulbs like Philips power blue ones, for the white/blue look, or philips extreme for the max light output.

ecu needs coding - not too hard with vag com... then you need the auto leveling and headlamp washer to be 100% legal.

    or have these on mine...

not everyone cup of tea but work well and are a bit different.
