Hi all,

Picked up a 1999 S4 a couple of weeks back and am looking at tuning options. I am aiming for a re-map and would welcome any experience or comments ....

Cheers

I've had very good experiences with AmD on a previous Audi. Think Revo may be worth researching also. I think each company gives similar power. Not much in it really.

I have an AMD chipped S4 and I'm delighted with the result. It totally transformed the car. But to be fair it was 40bhp down from the day I bought it! Despite 14+ visits to Specialist cars in Aberdeen. The lads at AMD discovered and fixed the car in a couple of hours. (The well-known torn throttle body Y rubber and a faulty exhaust temp probe.) They then went on to fit two new hyperboost dump valves and chip the car to a theoretical 232bhp.

Before AMD's work the car struggled to do 140mph. The service guy at Specialist cars told me that was due to the Thule bike rack I had on the roof! Since then I've had 170mph on the clock on the flat!

A simple boost pressure check would have detected this the rolling road is check before and after is of course the ultimate check. Kim Collins is yet to offer the rolling road although I believe he is due to get one.

If I were to advise anyone, I'd check out the APR chip it’s cheaper. And see what REVO have to offer. I think the AMD, MTM etc. £1000 is the usual all things German mark up!

I went for AMD because I believed the sales chat about individual mapping done to suit my car rather than an 'out of the box' generic mapping as I refer to it.

I'm not so sure now after talking to a couple of bods whether AMD actually individually map as they say or it's simply the same as MTM and all the other chip guys. i.e. one re-map for all S4's.

That aside, I'm delighted with their work. So much so I negotiated a discount on the full RS4 power upgrade in maybe a years time. That's if I don't go for an RS4 in between then.

Patrick glad to hear you liked it, I assure you it was an individual remap and not an 'off the shelf' map.
Hope to see you soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Patrick the Remap is optimised individually

Great advice and many thanks Patrick.... my car is booked in at AMD .... I like the fact the original ecu is retained. I'm getting the timing belt done next week before the re-map just to be safe...
