Advantage of ditching Secondary air injection system?

Just looking into advantages and disadvantages of removing the Secondary air injection system!
Does anyone know of what this involves? and whether it would make any difference to anything else on the car?

heres my guide to removal, pretty straight forward, getting the pump out is a bit tricky rest is easy:

advantages?
apart from saving yourself 1 or 2kg in weight, nothing at all

i only removed mine because the pump was knackered, and it tidies up the engine bay a little bit at the same time

you will need to solder in two resistors (as you will read in the guide) to stop the car from throwing up a warning light, very simple stuff
