    hi,

nope you don't have to goto a main dealer to get it checked. I'd go to a specialist (as would most people on here) asy they will know the car just as well if not better. they will have the diagnostic equipment, which is always worth doing. they will check the brakes and tell you if there is anything else that needs looking over on from the diagnostics. all for much less than that of the main dealer!

have a look around for local approved VAG specialists - there's bound to be a few around /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    Hope this helps!

when i first got my a3 a couple of years back i had a problem with the abs light coming on, turned out it was a fault with the computer and it needed a new dash unit, all done under warranty thank god.

    good luck

The most common ABS failure is a failed ABS sensor. If this is the problem, it should be possible to determine which sensor with VAG-COM and replace it yourself. Most only have a single bolt hole but I haven't had a look at mine.
