abs going nuts on pulling away...

    basically as title ,start the car up and pull away an the abs is vibrating away for a few seconds then stops,feels like the brakes are locking up too.but once im drivin its fine. any ideas car is 1998 a3 agu. cheers

    Run a VAG-COM scan for fault codes and then run the ABS diagnostic test, that will most probably narrow it down, could well be a duff sensor or ABS pump issue. But VAG-COM your first point of call

    I had this... speed sensor wire had just come off, fouled on the wheel and rubbed through. Repaired and reset with VAG-COM, no biggie... just pull the fuse out in the mean time, so embarrassing when pulling out of the pub car park etc.

    ahh gd idea about fuse.. yeah ano the noise is shockin..cheers
