Right, previous to my thread a hile ago now about getting the car done i finally gave it a good going over. The detail was done back in November but have been quite busy since. Its by no means perfect but im more than happy with the way things came out.

I wont bore you too much with all the products but they include:
paint: hyperwash, megs quick clay kit, g220 hard paint kit with blackfire paint sealant x2 layers,
Alloys and whels:wheelbrightner, jeffs prime for the alloys, blackfire tyre gel and poorboys wheel sealant
Metals: megs nxt metal cleaner with blackfire metal sealant.

    Car started like this:

    Usual road grime and dirt.

So wheels power rinsed first then sprayed with WB and aggitated with ez detail brush and my trusted little halfords brush

All then rinsed through thoroughly leaving something like this:

Same completed for all four wheels.

Car then rinsed at high pressure before foaming with megs hyperwash. Foamed leaving this
    [IMG]

Left to dwell for 10mins and then rinsed leaving:

Each panel then washed with hyperwash along with 2BM. One panel at a time starting from top to bottom.

And so on. All then power rinsed off to leave..

Looking alot better if i do say so!
    Then onto the claying:
    from this:

to this after just the bonnet!!

Car then washed again with 2BM and dried.

I then started slowly as this was the first time with machine polishing. Car taped up section by section and let the polishing begin.

The next lot is a blur and spread over two days but basically went through the whole car with correction and the polishing. Not the best before and after pics but i think you get the point.

    Nice reflecion shot after correction:

i did attempt some 50:50's but they really were rubbish so have left them out.
    On to the polishing stage:

some nice reflections and depth to the paint now i think
    reflection shot:
then car sealed with 2 coats of blackfire paint sealant. Really love the blackfire stuff. really easy to use but really works well on the car.

Now from there that was the car pretty much done so there were no "final shots" however today had a chance to go over the car today with a good wash and another layer of sealant on the paintwork, alloys given another layer of sealant
these pics were taken from my iphone so not as clear but again painwork looks nice me thinks..

    Hope you all enjoyed.
Things i learnt...detailing is bloody hard work. Very tme consuming but im hoping thiswill speed up as i get better. Things i should do next include de-tarring, arches and door sills etc.
All in all a good learning experience. Like to say thanks to all for your advice especially the PB guidelines and Jimmeh.:icon_thumright:

Well done, very nice. Black is the best colour when clean, the worst at all other times!
How are you going to maintain? Does anyone use a lambswool duster to remove the fine layer of dust than can build up over the course of a week?

will maintain by weekly or fortnightly wash whatever time allows and every 6-8weeks another layer of sealant. I have also got the Blackfire Wax but will use this next time i do a full blown detail on the car.

Looks good that mate. Im yet to try the Blackfire kit! Did you follow the paint sealant with the wax, or, just leave it at that?!

Update us from time to time with durability reports etc if you could :)

    ...still miss my S3 :(

    cheers for the comments guys.
Animal: lol the rear wiper wil come in time. got to sort out my geometry first.
Jimmeh: i only used the sealant as this was done more as a winter prep rather then a shine n show. I do have the wax aswell and looking to apply this when i do my nex mini detail when the weahther gets a little nicer probs next month or so. Durability wise i find that it usually lasts about 4-6 weeks or longer depending on how often i wash my car. The deep glossy look to the car usually remains for a while though after a simple handwash. Cant comment on the durability of the wax as im yet to use it.
Blacfire stuff is highly recommended though as its soo easy to use and apply.

Looks great mate - the iphone doesn't take a great picture, but it still looks very glossy and wet, so well done! And yes... detailing is bloody hard work!

Its really hard work spent hours on mine with the hard paint kit. I have it in at the ultimate shine just now getting some bits done on the rotary (totally different beast) looking superb rav, blackfire is the dogs. I will get some pics of mine up soon.

Best colour too, nothing looks as good a black when its clean. Keep up the good work mate.

cheers for the comments guys. yea alot of work went into it. i rekon about 25-30 hours or so over 3-4 days worth.

LOL no im not ashley cole, if i was i wouldn't be spending all that time on my car..i'd be begging to have cheryl back!!!

Putang: whats the rotary like then compared to a DA? easier or harder to work with?

PB: yea will get some better finishing shots with the normal camera next time as apposed to the iphone. Feedback much appreciated.

I have never used one apart from on a test panel mate. I have got paul @ www.theultimateshine.com to do mine. I will just use my g220 to keep it looking 1st class when i need to.
