Hi I am new to this forum and was after some info, I have a 2004 3.0tdi quattro A6 (4F) just the start of the newer shape.

My question is does it need a cam belt change, if so when should it have been done.

If it does need one, is it worth doing water pump at same time?

Any recommendations on a good indie for the job in Birmingham / West Mids area?

Many thnaks

50k for a diesel cambelt without knowing when it was done and if its over then id consider getting it done.

Youll need a water pump and idlers done as well .as before look at the thermostat and coolant temp sensor. as youll have to remove the cambelt to get to the waterpump anyway and the others need the system drained or partially drained anyway

Water pump about £25
thermostat around £10
Coolant temp sensor £16

no ideas on an indie

Water pump will go anyway and can take the cambelt with it. its not worth scrimping on this as they have a useful life of around 80K or so.
