As my car is in the garage again I have an A5 2.0TFSI Black edition as a courtesy car. The FBMFSW in the A5 seems to be slightly thicker and alot nicer than the A3 version. Could this type be fitted to my S3 IF I can acquire one cheap enough. Would it just bea new slip ring and harness needed and then coded???

Do you currently have a MFSW on your S3?

If yes, then I believe it should be a straight swap as you will already have the correct slip ring and could use the current harness.
You may also need the correct fitment airbag. Don't quote me on the airbag but I know this is the case for standard MFSW from A3 to A4/5 etc

Someone should be along to clarify this.

Being the 2nd owner of my S3.....the previous guy must of been rather stingy as it has very little extras on it.....not even the MFSW. So its start from the beginning Im afraid. I just love the 'Feel of the wheel' in the A5 and sure its slightly thicker.

If its not possible then I will fit a normal FBMFSW to it.......when I can find a reasonably priced one.

I've currently got a 2012 S5 wheel in my car, the airbag loom can be adpated to fit, BUT its getting the DSG to work, it is possible just needs more time and the right person to do it!

    I already have lol.

Goes from 6 wires on our fbmfsw to 3 wires on the newer, some meter testing & pcb tracing required to see whats changed.

Brodster, if its the newer version wheel with the button redesign etc then its not a straight awap.

Oh well thats a shame as the new design wheel is nice. Will have to go for the older style then.....if I can get one at a descent price.
