Desperately need help
car is A4 B6 70000kms 2001 recently had cam belt changed
Car drives perfectly then randomely EPC light will come on, when car came to a stop would not go anywhere (no power) still running turn off then back on all good.

Has happened every morning and night now.
only happens when car is cold. no problems at all when car is warm!! maybe happen 2 to 3 times when starting from cold then is fine once temp is up.

not sure if this is the right place for the vag-com details but really need a idea how to fix this as it is my partners car and don't want her stranded on the side of the road.

here are the vag com details, hope someone can point me in the right direction

this link will help with the fault codes.

but here are the listings
17748/P1340/004928 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation

Possible Causes
  • Timing Belt/Chain incorrectly installed
    • Timing Chain probably lengthened
  • Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty
  • Engine Speed Sensor (G28) faulty
Possible Solutions
  • Check Timing Belt/Chain installation
    • Use Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) to Check Timing Chain
  • Check/Replace Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
  • Check/Replace Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
Could find the code for 17579 but going from the above it sounds like the timing belt was put on incorrectly and the timing is a few degrees out, the signal from the 2 sensors G40/G28 are causing the engine to think there is a problem and go into limp mode.
Otherwise if timing belt fine then one of these sensors is at fault and since it is intermittent this might be a more likely problem
