My much loved A4 2.8Q has managed to have an altercation with a concrete post in a car park (with some very bad misjudgement on my part!), and I now require a new front bumper (body shop said the damage was to much) [IMG]

Unfortunately, my car has xenon lights with headlamp washers, and although I can find plenty of 99-01 front bumpers for sale, I can't for the life of me find any with the washer holes.....

Are there any other options? S4 bumper? The only damage it to the bumper itself, nothing wrong with any of the grills, lights etc. it also has a factory Votex bodykit which I assume just attaches to the bottom of a standard bumper?

Any ideas, help on where I might be able to source one? Don't mind paying for a new one, but I imagine a OEM part from Audi will be a fortune... [IMG]

Can't bear to keep seeing my Quattro with a big hole in the bumper!

    Cheers
    Wayne

Has it really got Xenons? I've never seen a factory fitted A4 with them in the UK.

I've been looking for one for a while, not really found owt though.

Might be a daft question but could you not just cut the holes out in a normal bumper?
If done right it should look ok or am I missing something?

    Not a B5 no.

They were only fitted to B5 S4's, in the UK at least.

Axios: interesting question, but from what i gather the bumper has some moulding to support the washer nozzle etc underneath. Its not just a case of chopping a hole.

I should add they're about £300 new from Audi i think.

They might just halogen projectors, I've never really thought they were bright enough to be proper xenons, I had a Golf GT-TDi 150 with Xenons and they were much brighter. So aragorn is probably right. I can post a picture if I work out how to do it.

Either way, lets just assume I want to keep my bumper with washer jets, any idea where I can source a new one from, other than Audi....?

Bunsen: I think you'll just need to phone round the various Audi breakers and try eBay.

Might be worth looking at the existing setup, to see if its possible to modify a standard bumper.

Yeah, not had any luck so far trying to find a used one, is it that rare to have headlamp washers on an B5 A4?

Any idea what the Audi part number is, or where I can find it?

Ye they are pretty rare tbh. Most commonly found on S4's as they all had Xenons has standard and hence all had washers, but obviously the bumper isnt the same.

Part number for the bumper is 8D0807103AB

Mine had headlamp washer system too as standard, but previous owner added the xenons himself, so dont think it came with the car originally! Not sure why it has it if its a must only for xenon equipped cars, but sure most of the US guys have washers and no xenons??? Strange one!

Anyway, i have my pre-facelift bumper that im not using, however the bodyshop thats doing mork to my car asked me to send in the original bumper with the RS4 when they fit it just incase they need to use it, trying a different route and chopping out the centre of the RS4 bumper to shorten it instead of heating route!

That said, the standard bumper doesnt use any special mould etc for mounting the washers, its just a rounded off square hole, pretty sure it could be done easily to a standard bumper, i'll try look for some photos of mine without one washer to show.

As said its just a hole in the bumper, the washer cap is oversized and sits on top of the bumper when it retracts. If you need anymore help with sizes or closer pics let me know ASAP as car and bumper goes away on Fri.

    That would explain that then!

Axios-The washer jets are mounted onto the bumper bar, there is nothing fixed to the actual bumper, this is shown in the photo of my build you posted earlier. The raised metal section with the "P" is part of the bumper(replica RS4 unit i had originally) and the rest is the original Audi bumper bar! If its a help i can dig out the Audi bumper and bar to show you how it looks from behind???

yeh i dont think they're sold seperately.

I'm going to try and replicate the brackets though, and will post up the details when i do.

As for the OP, as long as his bumper bar itself is fine, he should be able to simply buy any olde bumper, and cut the holes to suit.

Ging by the above pic, they are pop riveted on to the bumper bar.

The price difference is pretty significant between the two variants of the bumper (although no-one except Audi seems to make the one with washer holes, so that probably why)

    99-01 Front bumper, primed - 102 Quid
99-01 Front bumper with headlight washers, primed - 240 quid

Obviously I'd prefer to go with the cheaper option, but only if it doesn't end up looking bodged. Rather do it properly if possible
My worry with cutting holes in the bumper is that the fit won't be as good and the covers won't be flush on the bumper, if you look at the picture that Axios posted it looks like the hole is recessed back into the bumper - so that the covers sit flush?

Why not pick up a normal facelift bumper cheap from a breakers and see if it can be done neatly. If it looks right, then you can either have that painted, or replicate it with a new standard bumper.

The washer jets stick proud of the bumper. They dont sit fully flush like the newer version.
It looks like simply cutting the hole, fitting the bracket and cliping the cover on.

Looking on my ETKA at work i cant see any seperate brackets for the jets so must come with the new bumper. Nothing listed under the washer system, nothing under the front panels and nothing under the bumper page so has to be including. But then a brand new bumper is £318.59 inc vat lol

Facelift bumper jets sit flush. But still, its just a case of cutting a hole, just means it needs to be done carefully.

    So do i!

The cover on facelift cars sits flush with the bumper when "closed", whereas the prefacelift ones sit above it like a little mound.

Thats a random google pull, obviously an RS4 but the facelift A4 is the same style.

S4's kept the prefacelift covers for some reason.

They also kept the prefacelift bumper brackets too.

I suspect the bumper shell is the same on pre and post facelift S4's, and they only changed the grilles themselves.
