    Hi All

    Lady driver !

    I purchased in August a 55 plate Audi A4 S-line 2.4 TDI v6 convertible.

Love the car, having drove Mercs for many years but wanted a diesel 4 seater convertible, this was really the best option IMO,
Its done 72k mils, so I've had the Cam belt and water pump done as precaution, and so far so good engine wise..

Roof also lifts and returns easily, however last week when the lid was down, I noticed on the side of the back part where the roof goes into, it acts as the parcel shelf when the hood is up ! ( sorry I so don't really know the proper part to mention) that there was some grease on the edges and the rubber gasket that goes all the way round the base of the parcel shelf, has now got 3 small lifts in it, so it looks like a hydraulic part (small one, not the actual lifting part) is leaking I think its only the one that holds the material taught and has no real connection to the mechanics of the actual roof hydraulic ??

Ive tried to google it but to no avail, wouldn't mind some advice? and if anyone else has had this issue? how to solve? repair or replace the rubber seal round the rear parcel shelf that sits next to the chrome plate that goes all the way round the back and side of hood base. and also if these hydraulic would need replacing

    thanks Ali

    soulsister64,

Sounds like its this part you need.

It acts as a brake for the front of the roof when closing. There are two of them, one on each side at the rear. If you part open your roof with the rear up vertical. look along the edge above where you have the leak you will see it. very easy to fit. About £45 form Audi. Part No. is on the pic A8HO 871 537.

Didn't have to change the rubber seal so can't help there!

that's the part. Ah used as brake. That makes perfect sense as it does clunk a bit when it shuts the last bit and I just thought that was normal but now I can see its not using the hydraulic to make a smoother close. Brilliant thanks for your help
