am buying a 2001 A4 2.0 auto (petrol), does it have a cambelt and what is the recommended interval?
Yes it does and the interval is probably 60k or 5 years but check with Audi. Personally I'd change it on a 6 year old card if I didn't know whether or not it had been done.
115K miles when we enquired. But I would get it done sooner to be on safe side.
ok cheers i'll have a look in the history and see if it has been done and if in doubt i'll get it done. is it an expensive job or pretty straight forward?
At local garage it was £435 inc the water pump. Audi were dearer. It's quite an involved task.
Depending on where you are there's an Audi garage in Staffs offering cambelt changes on ebay for £275 (£395 for V6) including 2 year warranty. Just search "audi cambelt" and you'll find them.
Depending on the fuel/accomodation costs I may be tempted to do this when ours is due.
Percy, just out of interest, did you used to have a Mondeo and post on Turbosport?
i had noticed the ebay audi cambelt man, i might go there!
isoproturon, yes thats me, i recognised your name aswell. i've still got the supercharged mk1 mondeo, and have recently got a zetec turbo mk1 mondy aswell (jeezus that shifts!)
Nice! I sold my Mk2 Escorts ages ago and really regret it now - can't seem to get decent ones anymore for sensible money.
