Hey-

This is my first post on the site, so excuse my ignorance.

I am in the market for a B5 A4. I have decided on a 2001 1.8T A4 with Quattro with about 80,000 miles.

I was wondering if any of you guys had a buying tips. This will be my first Audi (I have a B5 Passat with V6 right now) and I was wondering what to look for before I purchase an A4.

Should the car have already recieved some major maintenance (such as a timing belt) other than routine maintenance.

Should I look at any particular seals or hoses that may indicate the car may not hold up or has been beaten on?

Any tips would be much appreciated before I take the plunge . . . . .

I have one over here in the UK all round pretty reliable so far.

The timing belt should have been done at about 70k miles.

I think the UK one differ a little from the US ones

Ask someone HERE about the US models tho.

Hope this helps a little

Welcome Steve and good luck with the new purchase - you wont be disappointed....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Owned mine from new and now it's got 77K miles on the clock. The car has cost me practically nothing other than regualr servicing and tyres.

It is also a fantastic car to drive, mild when you want, heart racing if you need!

go buy!
