A3 v C30

If the s40 is aimed at the A4/c-class/3-series market segment, is the new volvo C30 aimed at the A3?

I believe it is aimed at the A3 and 1 series, yes. Don't know much about it though other than I'm not keen on the styling.

I haven't read an awful lot about it,but Whatcar give it the same rating as the A3 ( 3 stars our of 5 ).
One thing I always find favourable about Volvos is their dolby surround stereos.
When I look at cars,I always check to see if they're available with top-notch stereos as an option.
Daft maybe,but the car's the only chance I get to blare out my music.

It is BUTT UGLY from the back.
Looks like the bigger Volvo from the front styling.

I have to agree with SamDude here. Funnily enough, theres one right next to me uni and I saw it yesterday on my way home parked up.
From the back it's absolutely horrid! I hope they change that in a revision of some sort but the front looks lovely.
The interior is abit of a hit and miss but it's different so there ya go.

I'd still choose the A3 over it anyday though. Not that i'm being biased or anything

I believe the underpinnings are the same as the Focus, so it should drive well.

It seems to be an S40 with the back chopped off.

I saw a white C30 with big wheels at the weekend.
Looked alright,even in white (which I don't like).
The driver was obviously enjoying himself,coz he was chucking it about.
Probably a mechanic !
3 door only rules it out for me,but any prospective 3 door A3 owner would be daft not to check it out.

Looking at the pics on the Volvo site, the S40 seems to be identical - but with a boot.

Is it mechanically identical ?
Should drive well then,coz the S40 does.
It was one of my 'possibles' two years ago.
Only a poor choice of colours and wheels put me off.

The engine options are certainly identical for the two cars.

S40 seems to have a good selection of nice wheels and colours.
