how easy is it to take off egr valve on 2006 a3 tdi?

Wanted to clean it (just for the sake of it!)

Best stuff to clean with? or not worth bothering with?

Its easy enough to take off.

2 bolts at the side, 2/3 bolts connect it to the manifold.

There's 2/3 bolts connecting it to the IMF which you my as well clean...

Then there's a clip which holds the thick black pipe in.

You need to change all seals/gaskets as you can get air leaks if you dont.

The pics/desciption on my thread on how to change the imf may help.

Agree with Kaz - I rang him for info on this and its an easy job!

Make sure you get all the seals and gaskets from Audi before replacing!

There's a well known saying in the US.

With respect, that comes under the heading of Routine Servicing.
Perhaps you should dismantle the engine and gearbox too.........

There is also a saying called prevention is better than cure. My brother works for Saab and has done for many years. Years ago used to have idle problems on one of the models and he found that cleaning around the throttle flap with carb cleaner cured the problem & it became part of the service routine in Saab UK after that...
