A3 - S3 transformation (long...)

Serious? Thats a good relationship you have with them. They advised you on all your mods? It took me a great deal of time debating if it was worth it to go 09' or 07'

Uh nooooo, I advised them on all my mods & ideas, they just find the parts & any helpful info related to parts ordered & anything I missed & trust me they are very very good at this where as I keep hearing/reading how bad all other parts guys are in the UK, they dont use my chassis number anymore given my car has a variety of years/models parts, lol, so they just ask which year/model we looking at today then.

Mate got to say well done... Good work, gone for a good colour aswell! Bet you cant wait to get her back. It feel like your car then!! Have to take a few photos and upload them up, once she done! :)

just think though, a preganant mum aged between 25-30, blonde hair drivin a nice car like this....decenttt!

Anyway enough, cos if im true ill be  lol

looks awesome mate, Nice work..... I think you'll wish you had gone for 19's though?

Im in Frinton/Clacton area, you?

Thurrock. I need to program my rnse to show directions in the dash and apparently you need to program the 09 led rear lights. I'll PM you when those problems arrive!

I think your right! But I couldnt find 19's in that style unless they were real. In which case I think they are £300 each

No problems, i could be persuaded to pop over to Maldon as i need some body work done on my car where some tosser drove in to me leaving a nice deep gauge in the rear wing!

looking very good. how are the headlights? i have been checking out those headlight for some time now! are the DRL's replaceable? if so you might be able to fit some brighter led's in there!

Nice build. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Rich you dont need to program 3dr 09 rear lights thats only for sportsback mate. 3 door are just plug and play about 10min job max. You know your S3 reps how much did they cost you? Are they the ones off ebay?
And i never knew Audi did genuine in 19" thought it was only 18" but £300 a piece i may have to get some later in the year as i want a spare set sprayed Matt Black like Tobys.

Ohh and regarding your headlights mate if you cant convert them open a dispute on paypal. Just incase you send them to him and he dont refund you! Plus by the sound of things the pr*ck just lied to you!
Any more news on your pride and joy?

Deffo. They will discount you if i introduce someone new to them! Well it seems all i have to do is program the sat nav directions to show in the dash.

Im calling car lighting specialists to find out if i can make them RHD. If i have to take the lights apart, that should be a good time to replace the led's with brighter ones. IF i can...

He did ****** lie! I rang him and he can't speak a word of english. My mum told him to check his ebay messages now. 7 hours later still no response from him. So its looking grim with those drl's atm. Yeah they are indeed the ebay ones. thanks for the headsup on the 3dr rear led's. They are sold!

The alloys reps are from ebay at £330 for 4 without tyres. I believe the A5 has those same alloys but 19"...

I asked stoke audi they quoted £330 each for 18" S3 variant, without tyres.

The car was actually finished at 10am today!!! But mum is at work co i mustered up the courage to wait for her and get the car tomorrow morning.

It will be long, it will be hard. (wrong choice of words) but i'll get through it...:gun2:

And no, this wasn't taken by me. I haven't seen the car finished yet

Wow, Looks amazing mate. I take back the comment about needing 19's, i bet in real life the 18's will look perfect. Very good job. When it's lowered it will look fantastic.

Looks amazing mate, just out of curiousity how did it cost for everything to be done? parts and labour etc?

Cheers

James

Amazing quality oem style mods you have done sir! well done !! :superman:

If some one can convert them to RHD that would be good and plus like you said if you can upgrade the LED for brighter ones!
Haha you rang him how did the conversation go? Wait till monday if no reply...Open a dispute send them back and get your money back (thats if no one can convert them though im guessing).

Ahh A5 size alloys dont look right on an A3 looks like have to be used S3 18". OR save for some BBS...Think instead of buying the S3 alloys new i'll wait for some used one ot pop up on here or ebay lol. With that much money could get some nice BBS. Do you have any more plans for the car? Besides i know you said you will be lowering her?

Did you have a Word with the French guy Who sold you the lights and told you there where LHD & RHD ?

The lights can be converted just as long as the lenses can be split cleanly which they usually can with aftermarket lights.

You basically need to remove and strip the projector unit and then flip the cutoff shield over. If the shield isn't reversible then you can fabricate your own but it has to be cut very precise as any imperfections will be shown on the beam cutoff line.

The guys at Maldon did a fantastic job on the transformation. The car is almost unrecognizable:

No, thats the car i've been driving in place of the Audi. It did its job well, but the only thing more boring that driving a Yaris is watching a painting of a Yaris dry.

The Audi was finished yesterday morning at 10am and I got it today at 11am. I was blown off my feet to say the least!:jump: Somehow, the car looks lower... i'm not sure anymore about the 25mm drop...

Right so i'll save the before and after pics and the 'artsy' photos for when ive got the rnse, and for when i actually find a location to do it.

The led lights are work in progress.

09 rear lights? :meeting:

Great write up and pictures. always interesting to see what others are doing.........but.
I simply don't get the whole thing !!

I am currently doing my car up which involves getting the inside exactly how i want it, because thats where i spend my time  the outside will be clean and tidy, detailed even but what year grill i have means nothing to me. As for customising to make it look like something it isn't ? well my brain is round the other way in so much as i have a 3.2 V6 but the temptation is to put a single tail pipe on and a 1.4D badge....much more fun at the traffic lights :)

This is not a criticism, your doing a great job, just my point of view.

Hey thats cool man. To each his own i guess! I like oem looks and oem parts with almost everything i buy!

What a long and worth while transformation it has been, looks brilliant and well worth the wait by the looks of it!

Wouldn't like to think how much it cost you, surely doesn't matter now that its finished and showing the results that it is!

Great build, well done!

Cracking transformation, must have cost a bomb :applaus:
Just one thing though, it may be me or the way the picture has been taken, but the rear rings look as if they have been positioned a little to far down

Rich car looks amazing! Love the colour! Good write up aswell.
Bet your pleased with it, I'd still lower the car mind! When you gonna get the facelift rear lights they will finish the back end off! Any more plans for the car? And must say the side skirts finish it off nicely!!! Enjoy the car :arco:

Thanks everyone for your information and support. Tis good stuff!

No your right, it's a bit low. I noticed straight away, Oh well, can't be perfect!

Much :respekt: Benskin, Your right also, it does need -25mm. I will get the 09 rear lights. Only other mods I have planned is the 2008/09 rnse and thats the deal. Think i figured out how to make my rep drl headlamps RHD. On monday we will see... still wonder if they are a bit tacky tho...

Thats alright mate. Yeah they will finish the back end off nicely. I dont blame you, done alot of mods already. RNSE also be a nice finish.
Bonus be good if you can convert them to RHD. Do you have any more photos of the head lights mate? Also keep us updated on how you get on with them...

Looks mean mate, think it needs to be lowered a tad, just so it sits at S3 height, but other than that it looks the dogs:icon_thumright:

It looks fantastic mate. I love that colour too.

Chalk and cheese ... or should it be cheese and chalk :icon_thumright:

Money very well spent. Did you take your inspiration from madalex's car:

Chris

In a sense, I found out about Suzuka Grey from seeing it once in real life and then perusing it on audi forums. I do like Madalex's car but my intention was always for a 2009 s3 but with platinum details instead of blackout. in suzuka of course!

thx man! yea i just wanted to make it look as good as i could. prolly cause i cant afford a 09 s3! and i have never been a fan of aftermarket. i hoped by removing s3 badges its not too bad...

its not much that i set out to make an S3, its just i think the S3 is the best body kit for an A3.

great build mate! well done! only one thing the exhaust tips! the s3 ones are oval ish and not perfectly round like the TDI version! :p
