Original (Left) ; Face Lift (Right)

Effectively the indicator and rear reflector positions are reversed, resulting in a much narrower indicator on the facelift.

LED tubes added around the Brake Lights bulbs, and also added into the fog-lamp/ reverse light section too.

A very subtle change in daylight, far more noticeable at night as the other postings show.

You'll be fine to do the above, the outer clusters will function if I remember correctly along with brakelights, enough to drive to the garage for sure.

I am having an issue with lights working but the reverse lights don't work at all, does the coding enable this as the vag com couldn't open up bytes 8 onwards so cant code? its full vagcom/vcds as well.

How would you connect wires to pins?
And in that pic one wire is missing...

I know this thread is years old but, I'm now considering "facelifting" my rear lights and are researching on how to achieve it.

This is the only big tricky part I worries about. So, I really want to sort out how to do this. For example, what did you mean with
? What loom? And exactly how is all these cables that has to do with the license plate need to be connected? Do you have an image of the finished connections?

Would be very happy to get an answer!

I have actually seen this video before. But still didn't understand how to do. You never get to see the real finished connections. Just something looking like this, and don't really understand what happened with the gray cable and what will happen with this art afterwards:

I need more detailed information. And whats up with the bottom cable in the above cross? And is the whole thing gonna get back in to a loom? And what loom? A loom into the license plate? I'm really confused..

Edit: I may even add that I'm gonna buy a kit with adapters. So the only thing I need to worry about is this license plate connection.

Edit 2: This is another solution, right?:
And I don't understand what is going to happen here in this picture. And is the fabric gray or is it just the light that makes the black fabric looking gray?

    Okay.

With the inner lights, on pre facelift there is no inner tube.

The inner tube led on the new lights will not light up once you plug them into the old car.

This is because the old car pre 2008 does not have 4 power lines that are needed. It has 3. So will power on the fog and reverse but not the inner tube.

That's why you need a separate wire to power the led tubes on.

So when the sidelights come on which powers on number plate lights you need the 12v power that goes to the number plate lights to be transferred the inner tube.

On the kuftec harness that you will purchase it has a grey wire that hangs out from the plugs/harness.
That wire from the harness/plug needs to be connected to the number plate light wires on the inside of the boot with some extra 12v wire. Tap into the grey wire coming from the number plate light 2 times. One for left and one for right. Or do what I did. Tap into wire for left and then join wire from left to right. Not as complicated as it sounds.

    Good luck

Yes, it sounds complicated, haha... "Tap into wire for left and then join wire from left to right."

How do I tap into the wire? I would really like to see pictures or images of this process. The kit I'm gonna order is with grey cables. Don't see any grey cable in the image I got from the video.

I would like to see a map of all the cables and it's connections.

That loom with the arrow is black wrapped, looks grey cause of the light and needs to be opened up as I did to access that grey wire.

Put a wire from that grey wire to the grey wire hanging from the adopters you will buy

So I should cut the grey wire from the license plate, strip the ends, and preferably soldering it together with the two grey wires from each inner light adapter?

Yes that is correct not sure how long the wires from adapters are..but careful cutting wire. I prefer to strip back some of the covering on the number plate wire and push a little needle in between the threads of wire to create a hole in it like i did it that photo you were asking about which stops me from cutting and re joining.

A needle? I don't see any needle in any photo. And in the photo above with the wires like a cross. Which wire is what? Is the above wire the number plate wire? And how come it's the end of the wire?

It's my extensions to the light bulbs because I didn't have a kuftec.

Ahaaaa, I think I understand the photo now.... What looks like a eyelet is actually that you have split the threads with a needle.. Still don't understand what cable that is. It's not the grey cable from the number plate loom.

    Glad we're getting somewhere lol

That cable is my own cable I bought to extend the connection as I didn't have the kuftec loom with ready made grey wire

Another question. Is the number plate cable one or two cables? One for each light and should I connect one from each inner light to these separate number plate cables? Or is it just one cable and both inner lights cables should be connected to this?

I have now installed the lights. Recoded with OBD. But the left inner light won't light. Neither before or after the coding. Is this a coding problem or probably a connection problem somewhere?

Edit: I fixed it, was a connection problem.

Well, this just won't. Have been there with screwdrivers. Have kicked the panel. Have hit it hard. Nothing works... And as you see, it has been awful beaten up..
