A3 Quattro build thread

id have to agree with bill, id be interested in a big turbo if i could get a decent kit made up with a sensible turbo to not have much lag and mapped so i didnt need internals, im so undecided still on hybrid or big turbo gurrr

how much would a kit be supplyed bill for my setup is it possible??? pm me if you'd prefer, cheers

GT28RS sized turbo is a compromise of size/power vs delivery of said power from mid 3krpms to the limiter.

you need to budget £4k+ for a decent job. (330bhp level)
S3 is so much more difficult given the transfer box and space restrictions for underslung options

3k is a lot i found a KO4 Hybrid £1200 plus vat that can produce 340-360Bhp when coupled with a high flow cat, manifold 3" downpipe, cat back, chip remap and induction kit think this is my next mod

360bhp.. from k04.. really?

you think?

ask for proof before you part with hardearned ££

I dont see it personally.

I know TD claim this for their top hybrid.. but never seen proof

dela, did i see your a3 parked up top or brimscombe hill this morn? just below common. looked just like car in your sig.

Bill, is 4k a fitted GT28 price...... if so id guess that would be on standard internals

so realistacly do you think you could do me a drive in drive out low powered turbo conversion for 4k?? what would the kit consist of?
im very interested now,
or do you think that a hybrid turbo to these levels would be a better idea? cheers

yeah man thats mine, i just smashed my 6th sump in coming up that hill! there was a rock size of an american football, didnt see it till too late and smack! if you have a look when you're coming up someones put sand down to cover all the oil, the amount of smoke coming out was ridiculous, i was getting high of the fumes! having to drive a ****** little yellow saxo at the moment, depressing.

didnt realise badger billl was based in stonehouse, that isnt the VW specialist next to the petrol station is it?

no, right next to milk marketing board on oldends lane is where bill is.

i noticed that sand today, unlucky mate.
small world aint it!

easiest to do, would be a hybridised k04 like turbo dynamics list... I would'nt expect anywhere near their claimed power levels, but they should break the 300 level without ringing its neck.

BT is a different prospect completely, and more ££ as a consequence..
consider other things that will be required before this.. fmic, decent exhaust, clutch probably, brakes etc etc

£4k+ is the region from which it would start from - very much down to spec

No I am on SKF's site adjacent to A1 Building Maintenance Oldends Lane, Stonehouse, on the way towards Dairy Crest

hitting dyno again in a hour. results and vids will be posted early tomorrow

350 bhp but couldnt rev past 6k rpm. slight issue with fuel at top of rev's.
once bills adjusted fueling, i think we'll see 370. post vids 2moz

best of the vids we got. only rev'd to 6k rpm

i've got graphs, but cant get them scanned into laptop at mo

finally found the time to get mapping sorted today. fuel is spot on all way through rev's.
smooth to drive now, and you can confidently rev it now.

its nice to have it all 100% finished now :)
i may add a water injection kit at some point, but other than that the spending has finished thank god!

would like to hit the dyno again before vw driver day at combe (less than 2weeks away) but dont think i'll find the time.
main thing is, it drives superb now, issue free

many thanks to Bill for continuing to adjust maps after vairous coil pack and maf related problems, you got there in the end

i've done what i wanted to, built a big turbo a3 quattro. its a very nice car to drive.
just cant afford it and a van.

i'd much rather have the money in bank, than car sat in garage with job change coming up.

thanks bill. it really was last thing i wanted to do..... but with work situation changing in near future, the money will be usefull.

havent got mtms mate.

i dont want to strip parts off the car, i want to sell it as it is.

Gutted for you Mat after all the money you spent and work Bill put into it.

Good luck with the job change and I'll give you a shout when mines done... It was partly your fault I went for a BT ;P

GUTTED !! I have a good idea how you must feel, i too had to let my baby go recently. I am glad it's going to a good home though. Hopefully someone will buy yours and enjoy her as much as you did

Only just seen this amazing car. Hands down to you mate, done what you wanted to do, cant fault you. Respect for that. Great build thread read it all and enjoyed it.:applaus:
I'm gonna be doing a simalier project on my car next year or on a 2.0tfsi depends on overall cost and my current chassis.
Sorry to see you have to sell the car. Have you tried putting it in pistonheads and ebay? Who ever gets the car, gets them self a real good bargin.
Good luck with the sale mate:thumbsup:

its on pistonheads. dont wana go down ebay route yet..... rather a forum member has it, so i know its looked after, rather than someone just use and abuse it

really do need space in garage now......

open to offers
