A3 gearbox problem!!!!!

Hi all just been told my gear box is knackerd, it doesn't go in to 5th gear , cars only done 39000 61 plate and it's just out of warranty 5 month ago , can't believe this my first audi and this happens also had it a yr and it's got full service history , I take good care of it , don't know what 2 do . I'm expecting big bill for this , any ideas will be great or advice thanks.

Sorry to hear your problems.Did you buy car from main dealer? If so I would get in touch with Audi Uk and explain what has happened.You might be lucky and get a contribution towards repair..Worth a try

Bot it from Peter vardy car store last yr and it's manual , yeah got someone contacting them tomorrow fingers crossed

It may be worth asking an independent gearbox specialist to do a fault find and diagnosis and produce a report that you can send along with your letter of complaint.

I've took it to an independent garage and he says it's to do with the cable and bush thing he says there's play init so hopefully it's that because I've just be quoted 800 for the gearbox to be rapaired plus labour

Had diagnosis back it's the gear box so I'm about a grand down just bad luck a suppose

It's up the ramp just now and mechanic has just phoned saying there's gearbox oil everywhere n that might be my problem

It's just no connecting to 5th gear m8

Yes got sorted this morn turned out there was a crack in the gearbox housing and leaked out all the oil so wasn't as bad is I thought

Well a cracked housing sound pretty serious to me?

Got it replaced good as new
