I have a 2006 Audi A3 S Line TDI. Chassis No. is WAUZZZ8P86A186. Engine No. BKDA48296.
It now has 110,000 miles on the clock. The faults that we have had have been codes 19558, 19557 and 17075.
We checked the relay number 458 grey one and replaced the number 8 fuse under the bonnet. We then erased all the codes and when we first started it up the engine management light was off. If you then stopped the engine and started it again the engine management light came on. A further scan revealed fault code 19558. We replaced the anti shudder valve or intake flap with a brand new one. The old one I dismantled to find that there was a tooth missing on the gear which had jammed the flap so with the new flap fitted and erased the codes the engine was restarted and after the second start without driving it anywhere it came up with code 19558 again. They then supplied me another new flap which we then fitted but this has come up with the same problem. The car is very sluggish but is not in limp mode. If you hold the throttle stationary at 2,000 rpm the revs fluctuate about 500 rpm. Below 2,000 rpm they are stable. This is a manual gearbox. Both the fans on the front of the vehicle work fine. We cannot find any other faults. This has now been going on for over a year and we cannot seem to solve the problem. We cannot afford to send it in to Audi. I have my own fault code reader. Can anybody shed any light on it.

Welcome to the forum.

Are these band new audi supplied IMF's?

I would try a brand new one from audi, I cant guarantee it will react differently of course, but same error coming up points to the wiring or the flap, ideally vcds would be good to log the flap to see whats its doing, someone near you to log the car would be ideal if you're on a budget.

hi it was recomended on this site and other people have used them and at over £300 quid is there any way i can test this by removeng hose or multi meter check it is my sons car that i recomended feel bad as it has been a pain in the ar s

If its been going on for a year & its such a pita I would just take the car to a professional, no disrespect to you, as we're not aware of your level of technical ability, but the pita part will disappear if a pro gets on it, usually anyway :)

i had a pro out first time he told me code and fault , i then fitted part , he then checked it told me it was faulty fitted another new one then bought vag reader myself read code 19558 still there, audi said it would cost over 2k they lie a lot engine is fine ive been in the trade for forty years but only on pump diesel and am race engine builder so not wet behind the ears, everything is fine and works great starts first time you can drive ok but is slugish at higher revs

As I said, we dont know your level of technical ability, when you say pro out, an actual vag specialist?

If you're confident its not the IMF then have a look at wiring.

Code reader may not be able to log & look at measuring blocks to see what it shows for the flap, so maybe consider shoving it into a vag specialist at there location, kinda hard to diagnose over the net with no proper tools/logs to look at mate.

hi ok you recomend me a garage near me as my local audi is as good as a chocolate teapot near maldon essex
