A3 Diesel - Roof Rails And Engine

I'm finding it difficult to find many A3's with roof rails - has anyone used roof bars with brackets which wrap around the door frame and do they take long to fit/remove? I'm concerned the door seals would be compromised in time - has anyone had this problem?

Also, the 1.9 diesel engine was discontinued in 2009 so it's either the 1.6 or 2.0. Which would be best?

I have a 3 door A3 and use Thule roof bars and fitting kit. The front kit sits under the door seals, and the rear goes under the rear window seals where there is 2 small black lines in the windows.
It all fits on fine and as long as you set it up properly on first installation, takes about 20 minutes to fit.
Ive never had them on for more than a week at a time, but no seal issues so far.
