S line is for BMW drivers who get fed up with m sport ...fashionista like cayenne drivers who don't understand the brand ethos they just want the badge.

As mentioned on your previous thread, most people agreed that you should go to your local Audi dealer or Audi specialist. You stated that your car was your pride and joy and meant a lot to you. Thought you were going to go down that line?

In regards to the noise from the button, could just mean the problem is elsewhere. You mentioned before it all started after taking it to be cleaned. My best bet is the locking mechanism has been damaged.

Don't really think S-Line being a BMW has anything to do with it.

In your other thread you mentioned something about the AA man manually securing the roof with the T handle. The Sport & S-Line cabriolets have a fully automatic roof, but in the event of failure the roof can be operated & secured manually, which I presume is what the AA did. (pages 47-49 of the owners manual)

If the roof has been manually screwed down to secure it at the top of the windscreen, I'm not sure that you will be able to go back to working the roof normally without getting the original fault investigated and fixed, and an Audi dealer will probably be the best place to do this.

I did a lot of research before buying my cabriolet, and found no evidence on the internet about problems with the roof mechanism (some A3 cabriolets did have issues with the frame wearing holes in the fabric, but I didn't see anything about the roof mechanism failing)
The A3 cabriolet roof is probably one of the simplest folding mechanisms you could get, as the roof folds in one movement, and doesn't have a separate cover over it once folded.

Also, the roof on the A4 cabriolet is completely different - a colleague had one before I bought my A3, and the roof folds in a completely different pattern to the one on your A3.

Just to let you all know what's happening so far, local garage released hydrolic screw in boot and undone manulally roof from top brackets with t key..then he lowed roof my hand and disconnected battery and left for an hour.when he turned screw clockwise to tighten power hood rose perfect ally up and down and windows rose at the correct height and the roof closed just above windowscreen but did not fasten just stopped.so I think the problem is with the top bracket.let you all know what happens.....

You have been reading too many comics like Top Gear and the pretentous marketing twaddle written by those who write as an affectation and for effect. Agree though that Audi once did mean Quattro but hey the world and Audi has moved on.
A doubt that many BMW drivers get "fed up with M sport" that is until they have grown up a bit and become more mature in their outlook. And one can never escape that BMW will always have the whiff of smart arse, chav and 'Council' about them
The up-graded face-lifted Cayenne has become a sophsticated machine not the joke it was originally, it's just that many cannot adapt their mindsets to a sports car manufacturer moving into another sector. Those that are irritated by others that might buy the badge are usually burdened by envy.

Thanks for your reply very intelligent response wafter,,if the world has moved on like you say, s line is the marketing answer to m sport..for example my a3 sport (even with roof broken) has lowed suspension ,perforated steering wheel, aliminium trim inside and little spoiler on the front so the only difference is 3 little badges saying s line and a bit of leather trim ,pretentious marketing twaddle is s line look how many badges are on eBay for the masses to upgrade....by the way I read many car magazines not just top gear but I read them of the shelf in w h smith instead of buying them then put them back ,none of them any good anymore same old ****.anyway thanks for the reply..
