Hi guys,
I have a 2004 A3 1.9TDi WITHOUT aircon. Yesterday a dry sounding squeeling nosie started around the alternator/drivebelt. It squeels when I start the car but disappears when I rev the car. As soon as I take my foot off the accelerator, the noise returns. The battery light has also started to flicker when I pull off. Do you think
1) The alternator bearing is failing - If so does this require a new alternator?
2) The belt is worn
3) The belt tensioner is worn and no longer applying the correct tension on the belt?
4) Something else.......?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I need to get this sorted before work on Monday.
Thanks in advance.....
Matt
