A3 2.0 tdi starter motor replacement

I'm replacing the starter motor on my 2006 DSG 2.0 tdi today.

Anyone got any hints/ tips please? Haynes says to get to it from underneath but I heard it was easier to remove airbox and go from above....

Remove airbox and go from above. Very, very easy job. Barely turn the key and she starts now...

I realize this was just over 10 years ago... but I was wondering if you recall in the replacing of your starter motor, that all you had to do was access it from the top of the engine bay and no jacking up and removal of the bottom engine cover was necessary. Thanks!
