A3 1.6 Sport Throttle body replacement now high idling

I need some help! I have fitted a new throttle body to my 1998 Audi A3 1.6 Sport but the car is now idling at 1500rpm instead of the usual 800 or so RPM. I have tried two new throttle body's (one is a cheap copy, while the one in it now is a VDO part) and this happens with both of them. If I put my old throttle body back the revs are fine again. I have checked all the cables and everything is definately in the right place. When replacing a throttle body does the car need to be connected to a computer to set it up? or should it just work straight away out of the box?
I have driven the car around but the revs will not settle down.
    The part number of the throttle body I fitted is 06A 133 064J / 408-237-111-012 ( z ).
The reason I am replacing the throttle body is that the spring on the old one is extremly loose thats all.
Any ideas on how to get the car idling right would be much appreciated.
