    Hi,

I've had my 1.6 Sport ('99 model) for a while now and want to start moding it... Only problem is I'm not sure where to start and what can actually be done to it (some of the sites I've been to only offered engine mods for 1.8s)...

Also... from what I've seen there are only a few body kits available... Does anyone know any sites where they have some other kits... else I have an idea of what I want if anyone can recommend a place (pref. near London) where I can get it done... Any advice would be much appreciated

    Thanks

Hi 5HAM, welcome to a-s.net! well I would have thought someone would have jumped at the chance of helping you out with some modds. Come on ya ignorant sodds! lol

I'm not that great when it comes to technical enhancements. Anyway it depends how you want to modify your car (looks? power? luxuries etc etc) Power wise I guess you'd need to look into any possibilities of a chip, as everyone raves about them on here (I have one too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'm sure someone can help inform ya if you can do it to the 1.6), there are tonnes of nice wheels out there to beef up the look of ya car! hmmmmmmm bodykits? well I know a chappy called richa3turbo on here has just done a fantastic job of fitting a front RS3 bumper (looks mean!) it's in the main threads under the a3/s3 forum. you could make it look like an s3 I guess with a few modds here and there. Back to power try looking at some sites like AMD, Jabba Sport and Miltek etc.

Hope this gets the ball rolling for ya bud! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for the reply m8... I should've said that already I'm planning on getting the arm rest fitted and after that am open to any suggestions about interior mods (was thinking about changing the colour of internal lighting from red to blue - just to be awkward!)...

Powerwise... yeah any suggestions as I haven't got a clue

Looks... I want the car to look MEAN... I'd like wider arches as well... and I'd like a nice big spoiler (I know it sounds like a rude boy car but I don't care!)

As I said any other suggestions would be much appreciated...!

without sounding cheeky at all, if you're after performance enhacements would you not be better upgrading to a Tsport? there you have an instant jump in power and a few extra luxuries aswell! of course this is easy to say but maybe not so easy to just fork out the money (I'm no millionaire myself!) with you're modds you may end up paying the say premium on your insurance as a tsport anyway! (that's if you plan to tell them, which is highly recommended as I'm involved with an insurance claim myself at the moment - really is peace of mind) remember you want a car that is setup to handle the power increase. if it's more cosmetics such as a body kit and big spoiler (I'd keep it simple myself - but personal pref) then stick with the 1.6 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

try this link for rich's bumpa - I'm sure you'll like it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You're right about the upgrade to a 1.8... thing is I don't really want to get rid of this one... its the first car I've had in my name so I defo want to keep this one and don't mind spending money on it over time (even if it does end up costing a bit more - not that I've got much £ at the mo!)

I was once told by someone (and I'd have to agree) that a car should drive how it looks... so if it looks kitted up it should drive like it'd been kitted!

Where did u get the arm rest from and (if u dont mind me asking) how much was it?) Seen the one from VAGParts... waiting to get some time so I can order and fit it.

Mine was factory fitted. Vagparts are fantastic, but have a quick hunt around the salvage yards and braekers - you never know you may find one, also you could put out a post on here or on planet-audi.net etc to see if anyone is selling one etc. is it cloth or leather you're after etc. I'm sure someone put a post on here the other day with a whole S3 leather interior for sale around teh 800 mark I thinks.

could be true about your car, if I was you I would make it look nice (i'm sure it is already of course) with some wheels, maybe a kit and some other odds and sodds. keep the originals, as I'm sure as it's teh first car you've owned it won't be long until you want the tsport - and you could just transfer much of the stuff across! how about that? then you can do some modifying as you wish and perhaps you won't loose out too much in the future! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif just my thoughts bud!

Cheers for ur thoughts m8... I did look at a specialist breakers (cloth armrest btw)... they wanted almost the same as VAG so I'd rather get it brand new from them... I'll b looking for new seats at some point but not for a while as the ones I've got aren't falling apart!

    Thanks again mate!
