    Rightio.......

So its that time of year where your thirst can appear from no-where so I was thinking......hmmmm id quite like a beverage holder. I know on most of the S3's you have one on the dash.
Unfortunately i just have 2 pointless ones on the inside of the glovebox door.

The buttons on the dash (in pic below).......can you swap them around? Im guessing the blanks are for if you get extra things installed?
I was wondering could i put my rear window heater switch next to my ESP switch and then leave the left side spare for a cup holder? (if it fits) seen one on ebay at the mo. If it can be done......is it a case of pop them out and move the wires over? or would i have to re-do all the wires?

    Cheers!

You can get a cup holder for the armrest for pre facelift (if you have an arm rest)

Check my progress thread. I have one in mine. eBay purchase. Very rare example apparently but works a peach...but not great when driving for those with elbows. I'll grab the part number when I pull the bloody thing out.

Well it just so happens ... this is in my garage (not the laptop) ...

It's a cup holder - I bought it for my pre-facelift A3. Fits in the arm rest, I'm not sure if this one is meant to go with the tape storage but it worked. I liberated it before I sold my A3 because it did cost quite a lot to buy as a spare.

PM me with an offer if it's of any use.

Can be awkward but useful when heading back from the shops with a costa coffee.

    Hope this clears things up.

Anyone notice how difficult it is to return 'from the shops' :racer: with a normal take away coffee cup and not deposit 50% of the contents on the dash board, seats, upholstery, one's self? And that's when you get a coffee with a lid that seals. When lids split and comes off whilst you're driving that's fun ... still good excuse to give the inside a thorough cleaning.

I resorted to getting one of those sealable thermal mugs from a camping store. :icon_thumright:

Ok so this thread has stirred up my armrest want and now added a bloody cup holder to the list :banghead:
You got to admit the 8l dash cup holder is pretty gash for anything other than a can of Peps or a California scent.
If its tall it falls out, if it's a travel mug the passengers holding it lol.

Anyone here with an arm rest actually find it useful? Personally, I think the cup holders in the arm rest are really badly designed.
I've never really understood why everyone wants an arm rest, they are seriously over-rated.
There's no real oppertunity to use it unless your on the motorway as having it set "down" makes it very difficult to change gear and renders the handbrake useless, so town driving while carrying an open beverage is a no-no. Audi had clearly never heard of ergonomics when they designed the arm rest.

As soon as mine is back on the road I'll be looking to get a facelift facia(sp?)

My cup holder seems fine? I mainly put bottles in it and don't weld my foot to the floor when I do, but otherwise it's good. I like my arm rest for keeping chargers and the like in there.

This has come up in the past and as I recall there's a part from S.E.A.T. for the Leon which fitted into the two blank switch plates (once you had moved the switches about a bit).

I think it took a bit of fidding around as one end was flat and the other curved, but some managed to do quite a decent job of it.

Note this was for the pre-facelift cars.

Had a look in History and found this, obviously needs a bit more digging but it's a start.
