a red 'i' on the TDI badge...

a friend has just brought a R-reg A3 1.9 tdi SE

the i on the tdi badge on the boot door is red, he seems to be under the impression this is a 130spec tdi rather then the normal 110. can anyone confirm this?

i think it means it was the 110bhp rather than the 90bhp version.

If its an R reg its definitely 110 bhp (unless its been chipped /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ) with a red 'i'.
My A4 is a '99 red 'i' S reg with factory 110 bhp......

defo the 110bhp version, the 130 didn't come out untill about 2000.

Look at the sticker spare wheel well in the boot if it says 96KW then its a 130bhp. if it doesn't its a 110bhp

It's a 110bhp, the 130bhp hadn't been launched then. I think it came out around the end of 2000 in the A4 and A3.
It should still be good for around 140-145bhp with a good re-chip.
