the pulley for the a/c compressor had seized regardless of whether the air con is on or off.
is it possible to drain the refrigerant swap the compressor and get a specialist to refill the system?

many thanks

kevin

You need the specialist to drain the sytem too as letting it out to atmosphere is ilegal. Oh and its pretty bad for you too,lol

OK, an update to this thread

i got a compressor on ebay from a VW golf for £35 delivered
swapped the compressors over
£25 re-gas from Kwikfit and air con is colder than it has ever been!!

£60 compared to probably a grand at main dealer- result!!

Did you just swap the end clutch of the whole unit?.
My end compressor clutch is starting to seize.... (squeeks on startup) but its a job ive been putting off.
