Just replaced window actuator on O/S of avant and noticed a rod detached/loose on the right side of barrel, viewing door from rear.
Checkin the Haynes, it looks like its supposed to be connected to something called a driver plate?? Just had a close look at another 96 avant today and again this rod is not connected in both passenger and drivers door (looks like a common fault)?
Also checked a 96 saloon which has the driver plate but don't seem to be same lockin mech fitment?
Unsure what this rod is for and how important it is for security, door still seems to lock via key (battery in key needs replacing so not tried central lockin on car yet)?
