8p gearbox crunch now not selecting

HI, I've got an 2.0 tdi pd 140. The gearbox was crunching when you put into 1st and reverse. Now it's not selecting, it's just like a grinding sound. What you think it could be? A new box?

More likely to be clutch related.

Sounds like the synchromesh could have gone.

Few possibilities.....clutch,synchros,and selector forks in the 'box.

The selector forks are known for weakness,and synchro wear isn't unusual either.

Clutch if the pedal feels normal.......
