my 2000 s3 (apy) started grinding 3rd gear when trying to select it, now i cant always get first gear and when 5th,6th are selected its like its in neutral. ive had a look at the linkage at the top of the box and 1 cable seems fairly tight while the other seems a LOT looser. does this sound like a linkage problem to anybody? the gearshift was fine until 3rd started grinding.if it does sound like a linkage ( fingers crossed, i am not religious but im willing to start ), how would i get to replace the linkage? any help would be appreciated.
5th and 6th gears gone AWOL

sounds like the 5/6th selector fork has broken off meaning you cant select those gears and the broken fork is possibly fouling gears 1&3
