I fitted these earlier today and I'm impressed with them. Nice and easy to fit so I thought I'd do a fitting guild I bought them from Awsome *42 Draft VW Shifter Bushing Set - Mk4 5/6Speed MY02-05

    A before shot.*

The play in the old bushes

First you have to remove the rubber bush. I pushed the nylon collar out with my fingers and removed the rest of the rubber with a knife.*
[IMG]. * * * * **You can see in the corners the diagonal that holds the rubber in.*
    [IMG]
As you can see there are two sizes of bush. The smaller diameter hole is for the side to side and the larger for the back to front.*
    [IMG]
They are to small a diameter to fit so the needed to be opened up a bit. I did this nice and slowly with a punch, oil and wet and dry.*
    [IMG]
When they just slid over the pin I oiled it lightly and slid it on (oh matron).
Then did the same for the upper part of the bush. Replaced the clip and all done.
There is no longer any slack in this part of the shift it's rock solid. It nice and easy to do. It just takes a bit of time to file them down.*

Looks good man, I often thought about filling my voided cable ends with resin to get a similar result, but never got round to it then the VWMS shifter turned up.

Must improve things a great deal :)

Odd that they're not reamed to the correct size though

Thoight youd have know about them mate. Stumbled across hem in vortex, the shifter bracket that connects to the gear box and holds the gear cables, it has 3 fixing points that are rubber bushed, intergrated engineering offer 3 alloy inserts to replaces thw rubber ones and is meant to offer stiffer and more presice gear changes as it eliminates any slack. Im ordering some at the moment from hektor off hear, drop him an email mate as hes looking into doing a group buy.

oh, it is! I hadn't even thought about that to be honest!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, spend money on some bushes, or just remove the rubber and use some washers to solid mount the fecker?

They don't look as sexy as your shifter but they do work well. I was suprised that they didn't fit but at least they're nice and tigh now.

Alternatively do away with them completely with the dieselgeek sigma six. Don't know why more people don't use it...

I haven't seen that before. When you add in the price for the forge quick shifts there's not much difference in price either.
