40,00 mile service being done this saturday. Have been using Mobil 1 (0/40) and found it to be pretty good.
Now considering using the new Castrol Edge Sport 0/40.

Any other recommendations and what are people generally using??

Most of the dealers near me in Surrey/Sussex are now using Mobil 1. Just thinking about trying something else.

    Thanks

  3. Hello Platinum

Use what you want - As long as it's VAG 503.00 or 503.01 you can't go wrong. Oh, and change it once a year too!

I'm just about to source some Elf EXCELLIUM 0w30 vag 503.01 (same as Mobil 1).

why change the oil? Audi's and VW normally do that themselves petrol or diesel.
Audi suggest 0.5 litres every 1500 miles on my 2.4 A6. (My BMW 5 does not use oil at all)
Really its just a replacement filter which is more important.

Interesting post. So what you're saying is because your 2.4 drinks a little then you're changing it as you go along? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

Well, my 1.8t doesn't use a drop so it gets changed once a year.

I work for a major motor manufacturer (not VAG) and their acceptable level of oil consumption is up to 1 litre per 1500km (932 miles).
