Hi guys. S3 came back yesterday from its service and my pocket was £250 lighter.......added some spark plugs to the service list. When I was being fully debriefed on stuff they had found (which wasnt alot I may add) they commented on the 19" BBS wheels fitted. They swapped the fronts to the back due to excessive inboard shoulder wear apparently it was bald and that I needed a geometry check. Now being the kind of curious bloke I am I removed now said rear wheels and depth checked the tread at various points over the tyres. Outboard shoulder - 5mm, centre tread - 5mm and inboard shoulder - 5mm. Now for these to be excessively worn and bald I thought I'd check for myself.......glad I did as I was about to order x4 Avon ZZ3's. Chancing barstewards!!!!

Some cheeky buggers about trying to make some quick dosh off people who, most of the time (and not yourself), will just accept whatever the garage says!

Which garage was that ? (PM if you'd prefer).

I'm looking to get mine corner weighted & want to know places to avoid in Edinburgh. Suspect I may have to travel a bit further to find a place that can set up properly...

If you are looking for an good alignment specialist, I can highly recommend Pro-Grip but its in Larbert pro-grip Pro-Grip Wheel Alignment Centre

I worked with John years ago, he has always done a good job which is quite rare these days.

    Excellent - thanks.

Larbert is fine, not too far at all & i'm sure they'll have scales for corner weighting set-up (judging by the site, they've had their fair share of heavily modified suspensions and seized up old control arms in there!)

I`m not 100 percent on the corner weighting, I have never heard him mention it before but its worth a phone call.
