4 beeps!?

Over the past week or so my A3 has started to occasionally beep at me when turing the ignition on from cold.
Only seems to happen when the car has been sat overnight or for a prolonged period.
I think it is 3 or 4 beeps from the rear speakers once i turn the engine on?
Does anybody know what this means and to stop it?

batteries are going inside the alarm horn, the problem is the unit is sealed so its a mission to hack it open to change them. The problem is if you ignore it the batteries will eventually start to leak and destroy the inside of the alarm horn as the acid stuff eats the circuit board

Thanks for the help. How should i go about getting the problem rectified? does anybody have a 'how to' guide or any experience with this fault?
