3 Button Transponder of Ebay

Has anyone bought 1 of these keys off ebay and had it reprogrammed and the blade cut. When i purchased my car it only came with 1 key, I'm scared of me or the wife losing it! So rang up the local stealers and was quoted £150 + vat! I then asked them how much for reprogramming and the blade cutting, and was greeted with £50 for programming and they don't cut keys there. So can any of you lot help? I refuse to pay them £170 for a key ( which could be going towards my RNS-e fund ). Thanks for any assistance.

Come accross quite a few people elsewhere who've done this and its ok. You can re-programme the key to operate the central locking through vag-com, the key bit obviously needs to be cut at a key cutting place, but you'll need to get the transponder for the immobiliser sorted through Audi or a specialist else you'll be going nowhere with it!! I've got 2 keys on my car but as the previous owners dog ran out of things to chew the key is a bit mangled, have a plan to get one of these transponders myself and change over the key bit & the immobiliser transponder to give myself a nice new key!
