what are everyone's thoughts on this model?

Was thinking about changing the wife's Mini Cooper S for something else and seen a few of these about.

Dsg gearbox? If so dont bother, friends gearbox went and luckily it was under warranty, if not itd have cost him £3k+, he sold it shortly after fixing it.

    Very thirsty.
    Expensive to run.
The S3 8P is much better.
My S3 8L has smoked a couple of them.
Cant get much more power out of a N/A unless you have deep pockets.

    They do sound ace though.

    Agreed.

I do leave them for dead myself but again....it's for the wife and they do sound great.

Seen quite a few 2005/6 models for about £5k and was surprised at low value.

    Perhaps these are the reasons.

A friend of mine has a TT V6. It's not that quick, it drinks but BOY OH BOY does it sound good. I was totally sold on the sound alone. Do it. Minis aren't that great on fuel either aren't they? Probably won't be toooo much difference.
