Hey, gang. This looks like a fairly active thread with some good S3 knowledge, so I'm hoping you can help me. Would any of you happen to know the specs of the S3 brakes- rotor diameter, piston count, etc? I've searched far and wide in the past but haven't been able to find anything.

    Thanks!

Audi S3 revelation: PH Blog - PistonHeads

Chris Harris being positive about something in our sector other than an M135i and guess what it's our beloved (my soon to be) motor! :)

Funnily enough whilst stopping off for some liquid gold at my local Esso in the A3 SB I spotted a M135i driver and given my impending switch to an S3 in late July, I asked him in the queue what the M135i was like as an ownership proposition. I stated I was looking to part off my car for an S3. He snapped out that he had been given a good deal on an M135i against his old E92 M3. He said he didn;t like the car and said given the choice he would rather take an S3.... Interesting discussion!

Hope you are all well otherwise! Big grin after the Chris Harris nod of approval - don't wanna say I told you so Chris but we did! haha!

Front discs are 345mm x 30mm and they're single piston calipers. Hope this helps!

    Guys,

To confirm, is the Audi Sound System Upgrade branded as Bose or not?? Dad recently picked up an A7 with Audi Sound System and this came branded as Bose?? Wanted to know if this was concurrent through the range.....

Hi Louay, I thought about it, but I don't think I wil lower him. It's looks better but less comfort.

What's you're tire pressure on the 19"? You bought the LG Prestige wheels. They also look great!

Looks perfect to me. Lowering it wouldn't make any point IMHO. And I'm all for lowering. Would greatly increase the chance of rubbing and wrecking your arches like my brother has done on his mk5 golf gti.

I think that looks amazing on 19" but I'm now thinking of sticking to 18 and lowering on springs and using wheel spacers like Graham from GNJ Motorsport.

    (Stealing Graham's pic here) :)

Don't really want to sacrifice more ride quality for looks.

Unless someone is near me with 19s on an S3 and I can have a ride in your car? haha

19's look perfect on the car; appreciate purist drivers will stick with 18's for weight/handling but these cars are so big these days the 19 looks the right size for the car.

Yes but in this case the saloon 19 weigh 2kg less than the 18s! Weird

Louay - any more pics of your car with the new wheels?? (As many as you can would be great ;)

I have a dilemma warren, trs. Stay with the 225/ 35 /19 I have on the car and lower? Or put that money towards some 235s like bjorn? Or 225/40, would 225/40 insufficient to fill the gap between tyre and arch? Thoughts would be appreciated guys.

I had 235 35 19 tyres on a 19 inch 8.5 wide wheel which I believe are the correct size. If you put 225 40 19 it may look weird. There will be a tiny bit of stretch but within manufacturers limits. You're best off doing a search for the sizes on google images to see what others have done.
Also search for the tyre size calculator that will show you the difference

    http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...ameter2=19&wheelwidth2=8.5&offset2=47#content

That shows a diameter increase of around 22mm so that's how much it will fill the arch say 1 inch roughly.

Will raise the ride height by 11mm.

Note that speedo shows a -3.4% difference so you would be doing less than 30 when your car says 30. Plus there's a -0.45 % difference changing from the standard 18s so really almost a -4% difference.

Some things to think about but like I said before google is your friend.

So now can you post more pics? I know you have them ;) 😁

Personally I prefer the way the 235's ride, and the wider tyre adds more lateral grip.

Amazed the 19's are lighter, makes a mockery of Audi's claims they use lightweight forged alloy wheels! That said I don't remember there being a lot of difference between the 18 and 19" rotors.

I love the design of the new S3, but there are 2 little design details I'm less sure about.

    1) The lack of fogs in the lower grilles (appreciate they are in the headlights)
    2) The shape of the wing mirrors are a tiny bit 'SEAT'-ish. I prefer the older shoulders / shape.

Other than that everything else is a significant improvement.

Personally with xenons and now LED lights (ordered on the new car) I never use my fogs. They're only on if the back is on. Can't see any improvement from where I sit anyway (yes I can see over the steering wheel 😉)

The mirrors inside and out are smaller than 8P but not really an issue in day to day use. In fact smaller door mirrors are a benefit in tight spaces.
Not sure I get the wheel weight differences.

How's the ride with the 19s bjorngra? I know it'll be a bit firmer than the 18s but is it still acceptable?

they look bloody good, by the way.

from looking at this photo, perhaps H&R Lowering springs (20mm) would be you're best bet. keep those tyres on and just get springs. Looks like it would be perfect with those!

click the first image and you can go back and forth between the two to see a rough difference.

It's still very acceptable with magnetic ride. There is definitely a difference. Steering is a bit 'heavier'. But we got the Drive select so you can select your best setting. The tire noise from winter to summer tires is also noticeable. But that's also when you switch from 18" winter to 18" summer tires.

I wil make some decent pictures today.

Surely lights would be an option rather than accessory and don't audi have a history of putting darkened/black tint lights on S models? I know they were on the B6 S4.

Mirror caps look good. Pity there's not currently an option for carbon interior trim. Would look nice together!

Accessories? I do like the darkened headlights!! Are they just tinted, or actually darkened inside surfaces - in which case that's going to be one expensive "accessory" to change :)?
