When i pull away in first there is a slight knocking sound as i lift the clutch to the bite.

I can't distinguish if this is something to do with the clutch/DMF or just the sound of the exhaust/engine.

It's a 12 month old completely standard S3 that i bought used from an audi dealership yesterday (ex-managers car) so i highly doubt it's been messed with i.e. remap, etc.

Any help would be really appreciated, hopefully this is normal, if not it looks like a trip to the local dealership.

    Thanks.

It sounds like from your description the DM flywheel / clutch biting - and is normal

Have a look at this animation - the movement is the sound / feel through the pedal. Unless its really profound / noticible. Mine is like a dull thud through the pedal.
