2008 A3 2.0 Tdi Bkd Engine Shut Down/turn Off

Relatively new here! Iv always found the information Im after in older threads without having to post, so this is my first!! Hope it's in the correct place!?
Brought my 2008 a3 2.0 tdi (bkd) sportback alittle over a year ago now. Iv had a few bits replaced under warrenty since, including a new turbo just under 10k miles ago. The engine has always started and switched off really smooth untill the other day, last few days the engine just stops very suddenly when the ignition is switched off along with abit of clucking sound and a shudder. Sounds odd to explain but before it turned off alot smoother.
Just wondering if anyone has come across this before?

Thanks for the reply, Wassnt sure what to what exactly to be searching for but now it seems to be quite obvious!
Appears to be quite a common issue, the asv/egr is one assembly? Which I can imagine is pretty expencive. Will it damage anything if left for a while or is it just a "driver comfort" not to have such a rough shut down?
