    Hi guys.

I've just bought a 2001 A6 and the buttons on the heater control unit are all worn, my question is, if I were to get hold of another unit is it easy to remove.?

The car has a Bose double DIN stereo if it makes any difference..

    Thank you..

It will be a straight swap, im not too sure about the 2001 model, but certainly after 2005 (C6) if you change the climate panel, it will go into Component protection. This can only be removed by an Audi dealer. They will probably charge you half hours labour to do this.

Thanks for your reply, what will happen if "Component protection" happens, what does this mean and I guess the heater and air con will not work..?

Yes that is correct, the car thinks a stolen unit has been fitted, so it goes into CP. Only an Audi Garage can get this fixed.
